Police say they discovered meth, illegal prescription pills and drug paraphernalia after a vehicle pursuit around 2:25 a.m. on Friday.

Police stopped a vehicle at 4th and Osage for violating two stop signs. While a police officer issued tickets for the traffic offenses, a K9 was brought in to do a sniff of the vehicle. The driver was asked to step out of his vehicle. He refused, then fled. Police report that the driver was throwing items out of the vehicle as they pursued. A search of the area reportedly turned up methamphetamine, illegal prescription pills and drug paraphernalia.

40-year-old Joseph Eugene Whitlow was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail.
