Poplar Bluff Swimmer Drowns in Current River
A Poplar Bluff man drowned in the Current River while swimming on Sunday.
47-year-old Edward D. Neal of Poplar Bluff, was swimming in the Current River near the Current River Bridge in Doniphan in Ripley County on Sunday around 4 p.m., when began to struggle and became unconscious, according to a MSHP report.

Neal was transported to Poplar Blue Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased at 5:18 p.m., by Dr. Guthikonda.
This was the third drowning in Troop E for 2024.
