Sacred Heart High School Volleyball welcomed the Santa Fe Chiefs on their home court Wednesday, Sept. 28 in a non-conference matchup.  Junior Varsity lost in two sets 16-25, 14-25.

Varsity won in a thrilling five-set, back-and-forth, point-for-point game against the Santa Fe Chiefs.  25-20, 24-26, 25-19, 20-25, 15-13.   Junior Sammy Altena stepped up again and ran the offense from all over the court.  She racked up 39 assists and 12 digs for the Gremlins.

The Gremlins had a team-high 7 blocks and did a much better job defensively at the net, which helped slow the Santa Fe offensive down. Senior Kate Carney, Senior Zoe Martin, and Sophomore Sophia Carney worked together at the net to get touches on the ball and slow down the Santa Fe offense.

Sophomore Libero Avery Epple had 25 serve receptions and did her job defensively to keep the Gremlins in system so that they could feed balls to their big hitters Seniors Emma Siron and Kate Carney.  Siron had 32 kills for the night and 27 digs and Carney had 10 kills and 13 digs.

The next action is Thursday, Sept. 29 in Windsor with junior high beginning at 5 p.m., followed by JV and Varsity Volleyball.

JV team record is 3-7 Overall / 2-3 in Conference
Varsity team record is 14-4 Overall / 5-1 in Conference
