The Sedalia City Council met at City Hall last night (Oct. 7), and once again, it was not a quiet meeting. A large number of bar owners, and other citizens filled the chamber to wait their turn at the microphone in order to protest the smoking ban, a ban which many business owners said has nearly put them out of business.

A round of applause was given to each speaker as they finished their talk, which were mainly directed at those who voted to allow private clubs to allow smoking, but restricted the privately owned bars.

During the pre-council meeting, the council had already agreed to an 8:00 Saturday morning meeting to discuss the ban. After the meeting Monday night, KSIS spoke with Sedalia City Administrator Gary Edwards about the planned meeting. The interview is available below.
