Sedalia Man Accused of Kidnapping, Robbery, Drug Possession
A Sedalia man was arrested over the weekend after a reported kidnapping of a 10-year-old child.
Police were called on December 15 to the 300 block of W. 7th St. in reference to a witnessed kidnapping. Police say witnesses had detained the suspect at the scene and the 10-year-old victim had escaped.
The suspect, Corey T. Owens, reportedly resisted arrest, and once searched, was found to be in possession of a knife that belonged to the victim, as well as methamphetamine. Owens was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail on charges including kidnapping, robbery, resisting arrest and drug possession.
The child sustained a minor injury in the struggle but was safely returned to her mother after the incident.
