Sedalia Police arrested a Sedalia man Friday, Nov. 4 after an investigation involving child sexual abuse. The report was released this morning.

Garry Glen Sorrell of Sedalia, 72, was arrested at the Sedalia Police Department, 300 W. 3rd, and then transported to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold, pending the posting of a $250,000 cash or surety bond.

He faces charges of one count of Sodomy, three counts of 1st degree Child Molestation, three counts of sexual misconduct involving a child, three counts of 1st degree endangering the welfare of a child and three counts of incest.

According to court documents, Sorrell molested three victims. The abuse began about 10 years ago and continued until this year.  The allegations surfaced when the children reported the abuse to their mother, who then contacted Sedalia Police.

Sorrell is a former State Fair Community College vice president in charge of finance and administration.

His next attorney-status hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 6, according to Casenet.
