Sedalia Police Crime Reports for March 26, 2018
Sedalia Police are investigating a reported burglary report from the Pettis County Museum. Police were told that sometime over the past three months, about $11,000 worth of antiques and antique firearms were taken. Police say possible leads have been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
Two people were arrested on multiple charges around 3:30 a.m. on March 24 after Sedalia Police located a vehicle reported stolen out of Iowa outside a business in the 3200 block of W. Broadway. A police report says that drugs and drug paraphernalia were found during a search of the vehicle, and a missing juvenile was located and taken into custody. It was also determined that the driver had been shoplifting. 33-year-old Jessica K. Wissman was placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of state charges of second degree tampering, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. 21-year-old Shawn M. Steele was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges for first degree tampering and stealing.
A Sedalia man was arrested on charges ranging from careless driving to drug possession on March 25 after an officer reported observing him doing a burnout in the area of 13th and Ohio. According to a police report, the vehicle was stopped and the driver refused to identify himself, then tried to take off, but the officer reached out and grabbed him by his shirt as he tried to get away. 32-year-old Byron A. Guider was arrested on charges of careless and imprudent driving, resisting arrest, driving while revoked, and no proof of insurance. Police say an unknown drug was located on Guider and that is being submitted to the Missouri State Highway Patrol for analysis.
Sedalia Police were called to the 2400 block of Greenwood Ln.around 11 p.m. on March 25 in reference to a noise complaint. An officer made contact with a car that was playing loud music, and it was discovered that one of the occupants had an active warrant for failure to appear on charges of possession of marijuana. 20-year-old Hakeem S. Dickson was placed under arrest, and police say marijuana was discovered in his pockets. DIckson was taken to the Pettis Co. Jail.
Officers with the Sedalia Police Department were dispatched around 8 p.m. on March 24 to the 3200 block of W. Broadway for a theft report. Dispatch relayed that employees of the business were trying to apprehend two suspects who were shoplifting. The suspects ran outside and were detained by an off-duty police officer. 21-year-old Christina M. Borst and 29-year-old Ronnie C. Huffstutler were taken to the Pettis County Jail for stealing. Borst was also given an additional charge of assault for allegedly trying to kick the off-duty officer.
