Sedalia Police Reports For April 9, 2021

Late last Friday night, an Officer responded to the 3600 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a hit and run accident that occurred at West Broadway Boulevard and Mitchell Road. The Officer spoke with the victim, who stated that they were rear ended when they slowed down to turn. The suspect did not stop or make any attempt to exchange information. The suspect vehicle was eventually found at a business, but the suspect has not been located at this time.

Wednesday morning, Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Warren for a report of an unattended 2 year old child in the road. The child's father was located and the child was returned home. A Children's Division hotline call and a documentation report have been completed.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 500 block of West 6th for a report of a domestic disturbance Wednesday morning. When Officers arrived, they spoke with a subject who said she was assaulted. She stated that her aunt came to the residence and they began to argue. The aunt reportedly punched the victim on the face and they began to fight. An uncle separated them and the victim called the Police. The suspect left the area prior to Officer's arrival. There were no visible signs of injury on the victim. Officers took photos of the area where the victim said she was hit and attached them to the report. At the time of the report, the suspect had not been located for questioning.

Wednesday afternoon, Sedalia Police stopped a motor vehicle at West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue for a traffic violation. During the course of the stop, the operator was found to have an active Failure to Appear warrant out of Johnson County Missouri. Amir Rashawn Clark, 23, of Warrensburg was arrested on the Failure to Appear warrant, on original charges of Speeding. Clark was arrested without incident and transported to the Pettis County Jail for processing, pending a $300 cash only bond.

Sedalia Police stopped a passenger vehicle in the 1300 block of East Boonville Road for traffic violations Wednesday afternoon. The operator was identified and given verbal warnings for the traffic violations, but was found to have active warrants for their arrest and no operator's license. Amy Denise Barton, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested without incident for No Operator's License and the warrants. Barton's warrants for Failure to Appear were on original charges of Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Barton was transported to the Pettis County Jail for processing, pending a $180 cash only bond.

Wednesday afternoon, Officers stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation in the 2600 block of Anderson Avenue. The operator was found to have a suspended driving status and was arrested without incident. Catherine M. Enriquez, 19, of Sedalia was brought to the Police Station to be fingerprinted and released with a citation for Driving While Suspended with a court date.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of West 5th Street for a report of a hit and run accident. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Patrick R. Lancaster, who stated that earlier that afternoon, someone hit his vehicle that was parked on the road and left the scene without contacting him. There was a visible dent near the front driver side door with maroon and white transfer paint on it. Officers took photos of the damage and attached them to the report. There are no suspects at this time.

On Wednesday afternoon, Bethany Hamline came to the lobby of the Sedalia Police Department and reported that she had been contacted through Facebook Messenger by someone she had an Order of Protection against. Hamline stated that she wanted to pursue charges. The suspect was not able to be contacted due to not having a working phone. Their most current address was from Independence, Missouri. Charges are being requested for Violation of a Full Order of Protection.

Thursday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South Stewart in regard to a report of possible child abuse. An initial report was taken and a Child Safe interview will be scheduled.

Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration near East 4th Street and South Washington Thursday afternoon. Officers could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was searched, and marijuana was found. Shane Austin Hood, 20, of Sedalia, was issued a city summons for Possession of Marijuana with a court date and released from the scene.

Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of West 3rd Street in reference to an individual who was shot with BB or airsoft gun. Samantha Hall reported being shot three times, but did not have any apparent injuries and refused medical treatment. The suspect or suspects are unknown.

Thursday night, Officers responded to the Prime Time Store, 216 West Broadway, for a theft report. Officers made contact with the suspect near West 7th Street and South Lamine Avenue. It was determined the suspect stole items from the store and the store wished to pursue charges. Salina Nicole McCollom, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested for Stealing. McCollom was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked, pending charges.

Late Thursday night, Officers responded to the 300 block of McAnally Court for a possible violation of a protection order. There was an active order of protection protecting the victim and the suspect was on scene at the victim's residence. Martavious K. Thomas, 30, Homeless, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Thomas was put on a 24 hour hold, pending charges of Violation of a Protection Order.

Sedalia Police observed a black truck backing out from behind the O'Reilly's store, 2414 West Broadway Boulevard early Thursday morning. Contact was made with the driver and after an investigation it was found he was in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Joseph Emmet Cutler, 56, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in on a 24 hour hold. State charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia are pending.

Officers initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle without a front license plate early Thursday morning. A check through Dispatch showed the driver did not have a valid license. Timothy L. Peck, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Peck was placed on a 24 hour hold, pending felony charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License.
