Monday night, Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of South New England Drive in reference to a domestic assault. A male subject was arrested for hitting his family member in the face with a closed fist. The male subject was then pinned to the ground until law enforcement arrived on the scene. Both individuals were treated for their injuries, and Caleb M. Lujan, 36, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was placed on a 24 hour hold. Charges of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree have been requested.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to Scott Joplin Court for a report of a suspicious vehicle early Tuesday morning. After arriving on scene, Officers discovered that the occupants of the suspicious vehicle had been driven to Scott Joplin Court. A search of the driver through Dispatch showed his driver's license was suspended. A search of the vehicle showed a glass pipe within. Rodney Drake Ballew, 40, of Sedalia, was taken to the Pettis County Jail. Ballew was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Driving While Suspended and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.


 

Officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed Monday evening. While behind the vehicle, Officers noticed that it was swerving in between lanes while slowing and stopping. A traffic stop was conducted. After an investigation and running the driver's information through Dispatch, Noy Kini, 44, of Sedalia, was arrested. Charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Revoked are pending.


 

Monday afternoon, Daniel W. Muntz reported to the Police Department that someone had damaged the tail lights of his vehicle. The damage occurred sometime between July 25th and 26th. The damage occurred in the 900 block of West 3rd Street.


 

Sedalia Police took a theft report from the Rue 21 store, 3107 West Broadway Monday afternoon. The complainant stated that two suspects entered the business and stole clothing from the store. The value of the theft was estimated to be between $300-$500.


 

On the evening of August 12th, Officers responded to the 1800 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of domestic assault. A father and stepson got into an argument, which led to a physical altercation. The victim was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center by the Pettis County Ambulance District. Jerry Wade Venable, 66, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released pending state charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree.


 

Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of East 5th Street to check the well being of a subject. Officers arrived and located the subject, who was later given a ride to the Bothwell Regional Health Center for a mental health evaluation.


 

Sedalia Police observed a black Chevrolet Camaro in the area of 16th Street and South Limit Monday afternoon. Officers ran the plate, which showed to be registered to a Chrysler. Officers initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the suspect, running their information through Dispatch. Cordero V. Anderson, 20, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending charges of No Proof of Insurance, Driving While Suspended, and Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle. Anderson was booked and released pending charges and given a court date.


 

On the afternoon of August 12th, Officers were dispatched to the area of North Ohio Avenue and West Pacific Street in reference to a hit and run accident. A parked 2016 Dodge pickup was struck in the front end by a flatbed trailer that separated from a gray Dodge Ram travelling northbound. Video footage is being reviewed in the case.
