Sedalia Police Reports for August 5th, 2024

Sunday night, Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a hit and run accident. Officers took information from Cayden T. Lynch.
Early Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North Mill Street in reference to a theft. David Maupins reported a trailer had been stolen.
Sunday evening, Officers took a report from a victim of theft. She stated she had lost her wallet at the McDonald’s restaurant, 1611 South Limit Avenue. The wallet contained miscellaneous items like a birth certificate, a social security card, driver’s license, and approximately $200 in cash. At the time of the report, there was suspect information.
Saturday night, a vehicle was stopped for an illegal amount of window tinting. The stop took place in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and Industrial Drive on a Sport Utility Vehicle. The tint measured 5%*. A state charge of Illegal Material on the Front Side Windows is being requested, but there were no further details in the report.
Sunday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle because it did not display a registration plate. The stop took place near West 17th Street and West Missouri Avenue. As the vehicle stopped, the driver exited the vehicle with injuries to his feet and legs. The driver said he had been dragged down the road by his ex-girlfriend as she tried to take a vehicle they mutually owned. Autum Lee Cummings, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. Cummings was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.
Sunday night, Officers were dispatched to the Police Station lobby to take a report of theft that occurred at the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard. There was no further information in the report.
Last Wednesday morning, contact was made with a suspect at the McDonald’s restaurant, 3101 West Broadway Boulevard. The Officers watched as the vehicle slowly pulled up to the picnic tables. Officers felt the vehicle was trying to avoid suspicion. When speaking with the driver, Officers observed glassy, watery, and blood shot eyes that were constricted and did not react to light. While searching the vehicle, Officers discovered a “bubble wrapped” meth pipe. Also discovered in the vehicle was a green bag that contained approximately 14 grams of methamphetamine and cocaine, a gun (with a loaded magazine and one round in the chamber), a broken a meth pipe, a scale in a black case, and a clean meth pipe. The bag also had a phone, which was an additional phone to the one the suspect was using during initial contact**. Patrick Albert McTaggart, 45, Homeless, was arrested on charges of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance (two counts, Cocaine and Methamphetamine), four counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (three pipes and a scale), Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs), Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Armed Criminal Action, a Fugitive From Justice no bond warrant from Kansas, and a Lee’s Summit FTA warrant on charges of Speeding (11-15 MPH Over). McTaggart was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.
Saturday morning, Officers stopped a car because it had illegal amounts of window tinting. The car was also driving without headlights. The driver littered a cigarette out of the window at the initiation of the traffic stop. The front side window tint measured at 2%*. The driver was also intoxicated by drugs. Laeloni Michelle Johnson, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle With Vision Reduction Material Applied, Littering, and Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs).
Saturday afternoon, Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Limit Avenue regarding a vehicle that struck a gas meter. Contact was made with the utility company, and repairs were made to the gas line. A report was made.
Sunday afternoon, Officers took a report of theft from the 3500 block of Green Ridge Road. Leah Fawn Ferolito reported a bicycle was stolen. The bicycle has not been recovered at this time, and no suspects have been identified.
Saturday afternoon, Officers responded to the 900 block of West 5th Street in reference to a trespassing complaint. Officers had been there a little after 11:00 a.m., where a subject had been trespassed from the property. About two hours later, the subject was sitting on the front porch of the residence, smoking a cigarette. A search incident to arrest revealed his copy of the trespass warning for that residence still in his back pocket. Jared Ward Sanders, 43, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Sanders was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail***.
Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the The Crossing, 2700 block of West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to an individual who had been laying in the alley way between two businesses. He was reported to have been there for a couple of days.
Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West 7th Street in reference to a theft that occurred three weeks ago. The theft was reported over the phone.
On the afternoon of August 2nd, Officers responded to the Probation and Parole Office, 205 Thompson Road, for a warrant check. A subject there had an active warrant for their arrest out of Pettis County, which had been issued on July 31st. The incident in question on the warrant took place on July 1st. The Victim stated she had been assaulted at her home, and was observed to have a long scratch down the left side of her neck, that was bleeding. The victim had stated she had returned home and observed the suspect’s vehicle sitting down the road from her house. The victim stated she knows the suspect goes to her house regularly, but is not welcome there. The victim said she went around the back basement door, where her roommate stays. She stated that she had entered the room and observed the suspect giving her roommate an “oral blow job”. The victim told the suspect they would like her to leave, and she refused. Then the victim stated the suspect ran at her, and they began fighting on the ground. The victim stated the suspect pulled her hair, scratched her, and hit her during the altercation. Amanda L. Hill, 47, of Hughesville, was arrested for her warrant on charges of felony Assault in the 3rd Degree. Bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety.
Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Police Department lobby in regards to a theft that occurred from the National TV Sales and Rental, 1400 South Limit Avenue. Officers gathered information to create a report. Suspect information was gathered and charges were submitted.
Friday evening, Sedalia Police contacted a male subject at the area near West 14th Street and south Sneed Avenue, who Officers knew had two active warrants for his arrest out of Cooper County. The warrant entry indicated the suspect was known to resist, be violent, and armed. Officers called out the suspect by name, observing he had bulge in the right side of his waistband, consistent with someone carrying a firearm. The suspect turned and looked at the Officer, but continued to walk away. After the Officers drew his service firearm and gave a command, the suspect laid down on the ground without further incident. A search of his person found a firearm that had a serial number indicating it was stolen out of Liberty Missouri in 2022. During transport and on scene, the suspect said he thought about pulling out the firearm at the Officers and “making” them shoot him. At the Police Department, Officers searched the case the suspect had on his person, finding a folded $100 bill in a plastic baggy and inside that bill was a crystalline substance that tested positively for methamphetamine. Officers also located two syringes that also tested positively for methamphetamine. In the case as well was a vial of Testosterone Cypionate, a schedule III drug. Andrew Brian Michael, 41, Homeless, was arrested for felony Stealing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Concealable Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and his two warrants. One warrant was a Failure to Appear on original charges of felony Non-Support of a Minor Child (In Excess of 12 Payments). The other warrant was issued in 2023 from Cooper County on charges of Harassment in the 2nd Degree. In that incident, Officers met the victim at the Bruceton High School, observing her vehicle to have a shattered front passenger side window. The victim stated she had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend when he got upset with her for trying to wake him up. According to the victim, Michael had shoved her against a wooden bed frame that had exposed nails in it, then pushed her to the ground and hit her repeatedly in the head with a closed fist. Earlier that same day, he had also thrown rocks at her vehicle, causing the window to shatter. When Officers located Michael and placed him into custody, he stated he was part of a “family values” gang, and “if he would have hit her, we would know it". He also stated to Officers that the next time he sees the victim, he is going to “beat the brakes off of her” and the next time someone calls Police on him, they will “deal with a body.” Michael also told Officers “If I see you on the street, I am knocking the f**k out of you” and “I will hunt you down and murder you and your whole f***ing family”. On August 3rd, a warrant on new charges was filed, with a bond of $25,000 cash or surety. The harassment warrant carried a bond of $145 cash only, and the non-support warrant carried a bond of $1,000 cash only.
Saturday morning, Officers stopped a truck in the area of West 16th Street and Thompson Boulevard for failing to maintain its lane. The driver was both found to have a revoked driving license, and was also under the influence. James Anthony Kilkenny, 60, of Kansas City, was arrested for Driving While Revoked and Driving While Intoxicated (Persistent Offender). Kilkenny was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and placed on a 24-hour hold.
On the afternoon of July 30th, Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of South Limit in reference to a license plate being found in the parking lot.
Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of East 7th Street in reference to burglary.
Last Tuesday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West 3rd Street in reference to a hit and run accident. The accident took place in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue.
* Missouri Law allows window tint on the windows to the immediate right and left of the driver of 35 percent, plus or minus three percent light transmittance. A permit is required to operate a vehicle with tinting applied with less light transmittance than the 35 percent, plus or minus three percent.
