Monday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a found wallet. Attempts were made to return the wallet, but were unsuccessful. The wallet was added into evidence for safekeeping.


 

Monday evening, Officers were dispatched to the area of South Marvin Avenue and East 7th Street in reference to a hit and run accident. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Richard S. Cramer, who said his vehicle had been struck by another car and the driver left the scene. No arrests have been made at this time.


 

Last Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of West Main Street and South Moniteau Avenue in reference to a traffic crash. When Officers arrived, they made contact with the driver, who had struck a parked vehicle. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. Roger Micky, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested for No Proof of Insurance, Operating a Motor Vehicle On the Highway Without a Valid License, and Driving While Intoxicated (Alcohol).


 

Early Tuesday morning, Officers responded to the 900 block of Sue Lane in reference to a disturbance. Officers made contact with all parties, and one subject was highly intoxicated. Mallory J. Walz, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. There, Walz was placed on a 12-hour safekeeping hold.


 

Officers responded to the 1400 block of Waterloo Drive in reference to a possible burglary in progress. Officers collected the information from Christopher Veith, and a report was generated.


 

Last Thursday morning, Officers observed an individual outside of Phillips 66*, 216 West Broadway Boulevard, with an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The warrant was issued in July of 2023. In the original incident, Officers were working with the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force as well as the Missouri State Highway Patrol in a warrant check. They believed a person with a Pettis County warrant and two felony warrants from Johnson County was last seen at the residence. Officers spoke with one of the residents, Richard Kurtz. Kurtz stated he did not want to answer any questions and furthermore, law enforcement was not welcome. Kurtz was informed Officers were looking for a suspect, and about the warrants for his arrest. Officers then began to perform undercover surveillance on Kurtz. About two weeks later, Officers surveilling Kurtz watched him drive to Knob Noster, letting another subject into the passenger seat. It was confirmed the passenger was the individual Officers had been looking for. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, and both individuals were arrested. After a series of hearings and rescheduled hearings, Kurtz missed a court date in July of 2024. Richard Allen Kurtz, 43, of Sedalia, was arrested for his felony Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Hindering the Prosecution of a Felony. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety. On Monday, Kurtz pled guilty to this charge, and he has been sentenced to five years supervised probation.

Last Wednesday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was not displaying registration plates near South Moniteau Avene and West 7th Street. A computer check revealed one of the passengers had an outstanding Pettis County Warrant. Floyd Eugene Flippin Jr., 58, of Sedalia, was arrested for his warrant for a charge of Driving While Suspended. Bond was set at $250 cash only. On August 1st, Flippin pled guilty and was sentenced to two days of jail time, with credit for time served.


 

Monday night, Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. Mary B. Burkhart reported a Felt brand bicycle valued at $1500 was taken from her garage sometime in the last seven to ten days.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle in the area of West Broadway Boulevard near State Fair Boulevard because it was speeding. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Zander Lucas Jones, 19, of Sedalia, was arrested for a charge of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs). Jones was transported to the BRHC for a blood draw, and then to the Pettis County Jail. Jones was booked and released to a sober driver.


 

Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of South Limit Avenue to assist with a traffic stop on a vehicle that had been stopped for no registration. When Officers arrived, they made contact with the driver. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Abigail Marie Sipe, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated (Alcohol). Sipe was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where she provided a breath sample that showed her BAC was above 0.08. Sipe was then transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Monday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop on an intersection in the vicinity of West Broadway Boulevard and South Harrison Avenue for Speeding. Officers checked his information with Dispatch and found his driver’s license was revoked. Tristen G. Wilson, 29, of Knob Noster, was arrested for Driving While Revoked. Wilson was transported to the Pettis County jail to be booked and released.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of West Main Street in reference to a found bicycle. The bicycle was collected and brought back to the SPD to be stored in the Bike Shed.


 

Last Thursday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of South Ohio Avenue in reference to a hit and run vehicle collision. Officers identified the suspect, and placed him under arrest. Cody Jacob Copas, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested for Failure to Register Annually with the DOR, No Proof of Insurance, Driving While Suspended, and Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident. Copas was transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Monday morning, Sedalia Police, Sedalia Fire, and the Pettis County Ambulance District were dispatched to the 900 block of Mitchell Road. First responders were called to investigate a possibly deceased individual. The subject was found to be deceased, with no evidence of foul play.


 

*The Officer refers to the business as ‘Fav Trip’ in the narrative of the report. Ownership of the business have asked KSIS to refer to the establishment as ‘Phillips 66’.
