Sedalia Police Reports For February 16, 2022

Tuesday evening, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department to take a report of a lost purse. The purse was lost at the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard on the afternoon of February 12th.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the TJ Maxx store, 3105 West Broadway Boulevard Tuesday evening in reference to found drugs and drug paraphernalia. The items were collected and brought back to the Police Department to be entered into evidence.

Officers conducted a traffic stop Tuesday morning near the intersection of West Pettis Street and North Osage Avenue. During the investigation, the driver was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License. Juan Cuc Cucul, 19, of Sedalia, was transported to the Sedalia Police Department. There, he was processed and released with a court date.

Tuesday evening, Officers responded to the Econolodge, 3501 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a hit and run accident. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with David Limbaugh. Officers located the wrecked vehicle and spoke to Limbaugh, who stated the driver had fled the scene on foot. A general information report will be done to document the incident.

Sedalia Police conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of West 16th Street and South Kentucky Avenue Tuesday night. Sandra G. Burns, 36, Homeless, was arrested for a Benton County Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Possession of Marijuana. Burns was transferred to the Benton County line with a bond set at $600 cash or surety.

Wednesday morning, Officers responded to the Raynor Garage Door Sales, 1510 West Main Street, to assist Sedalia Fire. A structure fire had occurred on the property. There were no injuries at the scene, and limited damage was done to the structure. Sedalia Fire called the state Fire Marshal to the scene for investigation.

A truck was stopped in the area of West Dundee Avenue and West Main Street Wednesday morning after failing to maintain the right half of the roadway several times. After an investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Caitlyn Marie Slaughter, 21, of Sweet Springs, was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. Slaughter was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, and then released to a sober person.

Monday afternoon, Officers responded to the 300 block of McAnally Court in reference to a physical domestic disturbance. On arrival, Officers made contact with both parties involved. A primary physical aggressor was determined in the incident. Dray D. Perry, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. State charges of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child are being requested to the prosecutor.

On the afternoon of February 10th, Officers responded to the 1100 block of West 3rd Street in reference to a hit and run accident. Officers spoke with Patsy Dawson at the scene. A vehicle collided with a parked vehicle in the area and left the scene of the accident. The value of the damage was estimated at approximately $150. The suspect vehicle has not been located at this time.

Monday afternoon, Officers responded to the Diamond B Mini Storage, 900 South Normandy Road, in reference to a burglary report. Officers spoke with Donna L. Osbourn, who stated the lock was cut on her storage shed. Property was damaged inside the unit. An inventory is being conducted to identify any stolen items. Video from the business is being reviewed in the case. It is believed the incident happened in the early morning hours of February 8th.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to an Evergy work site in the 800 block of South Ingram Avenue Monday afternoon for a report of property damage and trespassing. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Richard A. Schouten, who was a staff member working the site. Schouten stated that sometime over the weekend, someone cut through the fence and entered the work site. Schouten further stated that several pieces of copper wiring were cut. Workers found the wiring hidden just outside of the fence. Staff members estimated the amount of the damage to be $5,000 for the fence and the wiring. There are no suspects at this time. Officers took photos of the scene and attached them to the case.
