Last Wednesday morning, Officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle because it had one working headlight. The stop was conducted in the 800 block of Winchester Drive. Dispatch performed a computer check of the driver and his driving privileges came back as revoked. John R. Snethen, 47, of Green Ridge, was arrested on a charge of felony Driving While Revoked.


 

Sunday evening, Officers conducted a warrant check on a residence in the 1500 block of South Quincy Avenue. Officers identified the subject, and confirmed he had a Failure to Appear warrant for his arrest issued in September 2022 from Platte County. Zachary Lucas Dewitt, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested for his FTA warrant on original charges of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle. Dewitt was transported to the Pettis County Jail, pending a $124.00 cash only bond.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Park Avenue Sunday night. The stop was conducted because the vehicle had a defective headlight and expired registration. Officers identified the driver and found her license to be suspended. Rachel Kathleena Becker, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended. Becker was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released, pending a court date.


 

Early Sunday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was failing to maintain its lane. The stop was conducted on East Broadway Boulevard near East 12th Street. Officers conducted field sobriety tests on the driver, and it was determined that she was driving under the influence on a revoked license. Latasha T. Reams, 52, of Jefferson City, was placed under arrest. Reams was then transported to the Sedalia Police Department for further testing, then to the Pettis County Jail. Reams was booked on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Alcohol) and Driving While Revoked.

Saturday night, Officers stopped a blue Dodge Durango near North Hurley Avenue and East Saline. The vehicle had made a turn without a blinker and was “side streeting” to avoid contact with Officers. The license plates on the vehicle displayed expired in 2021. Contact was made with the driver, who appeared nervous. Officers asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, and after a consent search, found a plastic wrapper that tested positively for Methamphetamine*. Charles Nelson Showman, 36, of Otterville, was arrested on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle, and felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Showman was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail. Bond was later set at $7500 cash or surety.


 

Friday evening, a car was stopped by Sedalia Police in the area of the 2500 block of West 16th Street because it was speeding. The driver was found to have a revoked license and was impaired by drugs. James Marion Curd, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked and Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs – Prior Offender). Curd was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.


 

Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of West 13th Street and South Missouri Avenue because it was observed speeding, and driving with a headlight out last Friday night. The driver was impaired by drugs. Stephen Weeks, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs). Weeks was booked and released.


 

Saturday afternoon, Sedalia Police responded to the Burger King restaurant, 1101 South Limit Avenue, regards to a report of identity theft and fraud. Antwon Isiah Steele reported an account was opened in their name, and over $10000 had been used in the account without their knowledge or consent.


 

Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of harassment Friday evening. The harassment occurred in the 1000 block of West 7th Street. Information was gathered, documentation of the harassment was sent to Officers, and a report was completed.


 

Sunday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a physical domestic disturbance. On arrival, Officers spoke with both parties involved, and a primary aggressor was not identified. A 12-hour log and report were submitted.


 

Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department Friday afternoon to investigate a report of harassment. The information was collected from the reporting party, and a report was completed.


 

Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Police Department lobby for a report of found property. A set of house keys and a car key with an Apple AirTag were found at Liberty Park. The keys will be kept as found property, pending claim by the owner.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Metro by T Mobile store, 2302 West Broadway Boulevard on Friday morning for a report of fraud. Goods had been purchased form the store with counterfeit money. Officers gathered on scene, gathered the information, and a report was completed.


 

On the morning of February 13th, Officers took a report in the lobby of the Police Station regarding an alleged harassment report. The harassment was alleged to have occurred in the 400 block of Welch Court. Officers spoke with the reporting person and gathered information for the report.


 

Friday night, a truck was stopped for moving violations and suspicion of DWI. The truck was stopped in the 900 block of South Marshall Avenue. The driver was found to be intoxicated. John Henry Carney, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender). Carney was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked.


 

Sunday evening, Officers responded to the 600 block of East 12th Street in reference to a report of assault. Paul Joseph Lewman**, 19, of Sedalia, was issued a citation for Assault.


 

Sunday morning, Officers observed a silver Ford SUV travelling westbound on Broadway Boulevard. It had no license plates, and nearly hit a curb. Officers followed the vehicle and checked the license plate information, discovering the registered driver was both revoked and had warrants for their arrest. Officers slowed to allow the vehicle to pass, but it would not, until the Officer slowed his cruiser down to 10 MPH. Once the vehicle passed, it turned south onto Thompson Boulevard and turned into the McDonald’s parking lot. Officers made contact with the driver, and her eyes were watery, glassy, and blood shot. She had a strong odor of intoxicants on her breath, and her speech was slurred and mumbled. She provided a date of birth and a name, spelling out the name, before saying “I think”. She claimed not to know how to spell her name. She then stated she was 27, but later stated she was 25, then 26. Officers believed she was providing a false identity. After a HGN test, a preliminary blood test showed her BAC to be 0.139. She wrote her name as “Eloisa Rubio”. After a search of the vehicle, Officers discovered a wallet with ID that identified the driver as Alicia Carlos. Officers also discovered several bottles of alcohol – some empty, some partially full, and some unopened. Alicia Carlos, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Alcohol), Identity Theft, Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Carlos was issued a $1000 cash or surety bond with instructions not to operate a motor vehicle.


 

Sunday night, Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of West Main Street and Industrial Drive because it had a defective headlight. After a computer check with Dispatch, it was discovered the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. Rudy Sub Choc, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Operating A Motor Vehicle on the Roadway Without a Valid License. Choc was transported to the Sedalia Police Department to be booked and released.


 

Sunday afternoon, Officers spoke with Rebekah Vinyard, who reported fake money had been left the parking lot of the Game Stop store, 2400 West Broadway Boulevard. It was secured in evidence.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle because it was travelling into the oncoming lane of traffic Sunday afternoon. The car was stopped in the area of North Hurley Avenue and East Saline Street. The driver’s license had been found to be revoked. Cody Allen Edgar, 25, of Smithton, was arrested for Driving While Revoked. Edgar was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked.


 

Sunday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Marvin Avenue. Brandon Taylor reported a pair of unknown suspects had trespassed into his property to attempt to get into a car. He had also reported someone attempted to steal a vehicle form the property about twelve hours previously***. The suspects are unknown at this time.


 

Officers were dispatched to the Hardee’s restaurant, 715 East Broadway Boulevard on Sunday morning. A subject had been burning things in the restroom, and left behind medications. A report is being completed.


 

Sunday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East 2nd Street to investigate a report of property damage. Officers spoke with Alexis Ojeda, who reported the damage was done to a vehicle. Officers gathered information for a report.
Saturday night, Officers responded to an assault that occurred in the 500 block of West 6th Street. Officers contacted the subjects, and found that no primary physical aggressor could be determined. A 12-hour log was completed.


 

On the night of February 15th, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had expired registration plates. The stop happened in the area of West 7th Street and South Missouri Avenue. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a revoked driving status, an FTA warrant from Pettis County on an original charge of Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and was intoxicated. Ronda Simmons, 40, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest. Simmons was transported to the BRHC for a blood draw, then to the Pettis County Jail. Simmons was booked in on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs), Driving While Revoked, and her FTA warrant. Simmons was issued a cash only bond of $250 on the warrant.


 

Saturday night, Officers conducted a vehicle stop for a lane violation. The stop occurred in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated and had a revoked driving status. LaTasha Reams, 52, of Jefferson City, was arrested on charges of Driving While Revoked and Driving While Intoxicated (Alcohol, Persistent Offender).


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the area of West 6th Street and South Missouri Avenue to assist with a traffic stop Friday morning. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver, who had a denied driving status, was intoxicated. Jimmy Wayne Torres, 63, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of felony Driving While Suspended and felony Driving While Intoxicated (Chronic Offender****).


 

Early Tuesday morning, Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Quincy Avenue in reference to a property damage report. Officers spoke with Carl Lee Jacobus Sr., who stated the door to his residence was kicked in, causing damage. No suspects have been identified at this time.


 

In the very early morning hours Friday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of West 4th Street and South Lamine Avenue. The driver was found to have a misdemeanor warrant for Failing to Appear in Benton County on a charge of Passing Bad Checks. Brandon Scott Wood, 18, of Warsaw, was arrested on his warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail. He was issued a bond of $500 cash only.


 

On the night of February 18th, Officers responded to a hit and run that occurred in the area of East 4th Street and South Engineer Avenue. Officers met with Dennis Ilin, who stated the vehicle had hit the rear end of their car and sped off through the alleyway heading east of Engineer. A case report and accident report will be completed.


 

Sunday night, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Scott Joplin Court in reference to welfare check on a woman that does not live at the reporting parties’ residence. There was no further information in the report.


 

Early Monday morning, a car was stopped in the 2000 block of South Washington Avenue after it failed to stop at a stop line, and showing indicators of impaired driving. The driver was intoxicated by a combination of drugs and alcohol. The driver was in possession of two different identifications, while presenting one that was not his correct information. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Julio David Farias Valencia, 21, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on a charge of Identity Theft and Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs). Valencia was placed on a 24-hour hold.


 

Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a dog being stolen from inside someone’s vehicle. Contact was made in the Sedalia Police Department lobby with Aja N. Vannoy and Angel Escobar to gather a written statement.


 

*The probable cause report notes the search revealed what is described as a plastic wrapper “consistent with when people rip off drugs from baggies”. The wrapper field tested positively for Methamphetamine, but nothing else in the search of the SUV revealed anything illegal.

**The only name listed in Casenet for “Paul Lewman” in Pettis County lists a subject born in 1976, “Paul K. Lewman”. As the Lewman in the report is listed as being born in 2005, it is clear they are not the same person, but it is not confirmed they are related. Therefore, the name was not listed as “Paul Lewman Jr”.

***These are listed as separate incidents involving the same address and the same complainant. One incident was documented in Case #2024-00003735 on 2/18/2024 at 12:26 p.m., another was listed in Case #2024-00003697 on 2/17/24 at 11:15 p.m.

****A “Chronic Offender” is someone who, as defined by Missouri Statue 577.001, as someone who has been guilty of four or more intoxicated traffic offenses on separate occasions.
