Due to unforeseen technical problems, the Sedalia Police Records Department were unable to provide incident reports on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. The reports in this article are the reports that were meant to be issued that day.

Monday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of North New York Avenue in reference to a report of a disturbance involving weapons. Officers arrived on scene and determined the suspect had threatened the caller with a metal bat. Keith Wolfe, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested for Aggravated Assault in the 4th Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Wolfe was booked and released at the Pettis County Jail.


 

Monday night, Officers made contact with a suspicious vehicle parked in the rear lot of Central Bank, 900 South Limit Avenue. After further investigation, open alcohol containers were located inside the vehicle. Daniel Sheremeta, 18, of Sedalia, was issued a citation for Minor in Possession of Alcohol.


 

Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of East 10th Street Monday night in reference to a suicidal subject. Officers arrived and located the subject outside of a vehicle. The subject was transported to the BRHC by PCAD for evaluation.


 

Monday evening, Officers made contact with a female subject walking in an alley in the 1100 block of East Broadway Boulevard. She was discovered to have two Sedalia Municipal Failure to Appear warrant for Driving Without A License. Jasmine Hernandez, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on the warrants, with total bond set at $600 cash only.


 

On the evening of February 15th, Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Douglas Lane for a report of found property. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with Tammy Jenkins, who stated someone had left a book bag in their front yard. Officers went through the bag, but were unable to locate anything that would help determine the owner. The bag was placed into found property.


 

Officers stopped a vehicle on the night of February 19th in the area of West 20th Street and South Park Avenue. The vehicle had a defective headlight and no license plate lights. After stopping the vehicle, Officers believed the driver to be impaired. After investigation, the driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs). John Isaac Traffanstedt, 26, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail. There, Traffanstedt was booked on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs), pending release to a sober person.


 

Sedalia Police spoke to John M. Brandkamp on the night of February 18th regarding a theft. Brandkamp claimed his motorcycle was stolen from the 100 block of East 16th Street by an unknown male subject. Information regarding the motorcycle was taken for a case report. The next afternoon, the motorcycle was located in a ditch near Knob Noster. The motorcycle had been abandoned.


 

Sunday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South Kentucky Avenue and West 13th Street. During the stop, the driver provided a false name. They were later discovered to have a suspended license and an active Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Driving While Intoxicated. Felix Alaya, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Alaya was booked on charges of Identity Theft and Driving While Suspended, as well as the FTA warrant. Total bond was set at $250 cash only on the warrant.


 

Friday afternoon, Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of theft. Officers made contact with Asset Protection, who advised a subject known to them had been stealing by improperly using the self-checkout registers. The suspect was located in the 3200 block of Buckingham Drive, Sedalia. Diep T. Nguyen, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested for Stealing. Nguyen was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released on twenty three state charges of Stealing.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle hit and run crash Sunday morning. The crash occurred in the 1600 block of East 13th Street. Officers found a gold in color 1999 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight left abandoned. The vehicle had backed into the rear of a gold in color 2000 Dodge Durango. The owner of the Durango reported his vehicle was parked in the front of residence facing west. The Dodge had damage to the left rear end and Oldsmobile had damage to the rear left end. The Oldsmobile was towed from the scene. Officers were later alerted the Oldsmobile was reported stolen out of Henry County. The case is under investigation.


 

Saturday afternoon, Officers took a report in the lobby of the Police Department in reference to an assault. The assault was reported to have occurred at the Kehde's Barbecue, 1915 South Limit Avenue. Officers later responded to the restaurant to speak with the suspect. Roger G. Kehde, 51, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of Assault in the 4th Degree. Kehde was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released pending state charges.


 

Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of East 13th Street Sunday morning in reference to a hit and run crash. Sandra Jackson reported her 1997 red Ford Ranger was parked facing east on East 13th Street between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. In that time, the Ford was sideswiped, causing damage from the left middle side to the left front tire. The value of the damage was not available at the time of the report. The case is under investigation.


 

Sunday afternoon, Officers responded to the 400 block of East 7th Street in reference to a report of found property. Paul Williams spoke with Officers, stating he found a check in his front yard.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the area of West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue Sunday afternoon in reference to a subject walking in the roadway. The subject was observed by Officers wandering around in the roadway and determined to be intoxicated. Saria Linda Leon, 61, of Sedalia, was placed into protective custody and transported to the BRHC for treatment. Leon was later admitted to the care of the hospital and released from custody.


 

Saturday evening, Officers responded to the area near the Orscheln Farm and Home, 2424 South Limit Avenue, in reference to a warrant check. A subject with a warrant was reported to be in the area. Officers were able to locate the subject. Dakota Allen Gregg, 36, of Warsaw, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of felony Stealing. Gregg was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a cash or surety bond of $10,000.


 

On the afternoon of February 17th, Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a man armed with a baseball bat and scissors making threats. Officers attempted to speak with the man, when he began stabbing himself in the chest with the scissors. Officers successfully deployed a TASER, which allowed Officers to unarm the man and then handcuff him for his safety. The subject was transported by ambulance to the BRHC for treatment. The main claimed to be having a mental crisis.


 

Officers responded to the area of West 4th Street and South Missouri Avenue last Saturday morning in reference to a vehicle theft. Tony Stokes reported his trailer was stolen sometime during the overnight hours. No suspects have been identified at this time.


 

Early Sunday morning, Officers stopped a truck in the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Montgomery Avenue. The truck had failed to maintain its lane, and exhibited signs of intoxicated driving. The driver was also in possession of a firearm while being prohibited to do so. Donald Lee Terry, 45, of Concordia, was arrested. Terry was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs) and felony Unlawful Possession of a Concealable Weapon. Terry was placed on a 24 hour hold.


 

Sedalia Police stopped a car in the early morning hours of Saturday morning. The car was stopped for driving northbound on the southbound side of the road in the area of South Ohio Avenue and West 9th Street. The vehicle was pulled over at Broadway and Ohio. The driver was intoxicated by drugs. Weldon Grady Locke Jr., 52, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest. Locke was taken to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs).


 

Officers conducted a traffic stop early Sunday morning in the 600 block of South Warren Avenue. During the stop, the driver of the vehicle was found to have an active warrant from Pettis County for Failure to Appear on original charges of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle. Andre L. Watts, 47, of Saint Louis Park Minnesota, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Watts was issued a cash only bond of $139.00.


 

Last Friday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Wisconsin Avenue in reference to a hit and run crash. A parked gray in color 2010 Ford Edge was struck on the left rear side by the front right of a white in color 2009 Chevrolet Traverse. The crash was observed by witnesses, who took video of the suspect vehicle and license plate. The case is under investigation.


 

In the early morning hours of February 15th, a car was stopped in the area of West 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue. The vehicle was failing to maintain the right half of the roadway. The driver was intoxicated by drugs. Avion Darnell Skillman, 19, of Columbia, was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs). Skillman was taken to the Pettis County jail to be booked and released.


 

Officers were called to a trespassing complaint in the 100 block of East 16th Street Friday night. Dustin L. Hernandez reported a subject known to him at been at the business, and was not supposed to be there. The subject has been identified but not yet located.

Early Saturday morning, Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Sneed Avenue after a 911 call hang up. When Officers arrived, they determined it was a domestic situation. After investigation, a 12 hour log was started.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the 1000 block of West 16th Street for a report of a hit and run accident Friday evening. Officers made contact with Kimberlee Watkins, who stated a dark colored SUV struck her parked vehicle and then left the scene. There is no suspect information at the time of the report.


 

Friday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South Limit Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle theft. Shortly after the initial call, a different local business called and reported the vehicle driving erratically in the area of Waterloo Drive and East Road. The stolen vehicle was located, and the Sedalia Police K9 assisted the arrest. The suspect had a warrant from Pettis County for Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. Multiple charges are being sought. Brian A. Minton, 53, of Sedalia, was arrested for the warrant, felony Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree, felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, felony Property Damage in the 1st Degree, and felony Resisting Arrest. Minton was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold. Bond on the warrant was set at $7500 cash or surety, and bond on the new charges was set at $35,000 cash or surety.


 

On the afternoon of February 14th, Officers responded to the 300 block of West 7th Street in reference to a theft report. Officers spoke with the reporting party, who stated his wife had left town and used his debit card to make purchases.


 

Friday morning, Officers responded to the Office of Probation and Parole, 205 Thompson Road, for a report of a person with an outstanding warrant. Upon arriving, contact was made with the suspect. Their information was checked with Dispatch, and found there was an outstanding warrant from Pettis County on charges of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. Brandon L. Kelch, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested for his warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a cash or surety bond of $1500.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the 1300 block of South Quincy Avenue Friday morning for a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with all parties involved. Law enforcement determined that a physical assault occurred. The primary aggressor was determined. Gary Lynn Baker Jr., 46, of Sedalia, was arrested for Aggravated Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. Baker was transported to the BRHC for a fit for confinement check and then transported to the Pettis County Jail.
