Early Wednesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Bothwell Regional Health Center in regards to an animal bite report. Upon arrival, Officers gathered information and photographs of the injuries. The bite took place in the 900 block of South Harrison Avenue. Officers and Animal Control were able to locate the dog and remove it from the area to prevent further injuries.


 

On the morning of January 24th, Officers were dispatched to the McDonald’s restaurant, 3101 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a stolen vehicle. Officers made contact with the caller, who said he was giving three people a ride when they held a knife to his throat and took the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered a short time later, and two of the suspects were located. The caller decided he did not wish to pursue charges, and they were released. The victim later called back and said he wanted to pursue charges, and then later changed his mind again. No arrests have been made at this time.


 

Tuesday morning, Officers made contact in the 2500 block of West 10th Street with a subject who had a warrant for his arrest. Daniel Leonardo, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant from Johnson County. The citation was issued in December 2022, and the FTA was issued in March of 2023. Leonardo was arrested on his FTA warrant on original charges of Speeding (16-19 MPH). Leonardo was transported to the Pettis County Jail, pending a cash only bond of $250.00.


 

Officers responded to the 3100 block of Brianna Boulevard in reference to a burglary report early Tuesday morning. Officers made contact with the complainant, who was under the influence of an illegal substance. The subject had already called 911 multiple times, requiring an emergency response. The subject was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, as well as drug paraphernalia. Travis Mitchell Shepard, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misuse of 911. Shepard was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.


 

Early Wednesday morning*, Officers observed a vehicle at Centennial Park, 1500 East 16th Street. Officers made contact with two subjects inside the vehicle. Their information was checked with Dispatch, and one of the occupants was found to have a warrant for their arrest. Mark Eduardovich Chernov, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant on an original charge of Speeding (20-25 MPH). Chernov was cited in October of 2023, and the warrant was issued in December 2023. Chernov was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in, pending a cash only bond of $250.00.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a theft report on the evening of February 20th. Officers spoke with Asset Protection, that provided information regarding items that had been stolen from the business. No suspects have been identified at this time.


 

Tuesday morning, Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of West 7th Street and South Ohio Avenue for having an obstructed license plate. The driver of the vehicle was also found to have a revoked driving status, as well as a Failure to Appear warrant from Clay County for his arrest. Shay Alexander Cunningham, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested for his FTA warrant on original charges of Driving While Intoxicated. Cunningham was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in, pending a cash or surety bond of $2500**.

Tuesday night, Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of North Quincy Avenue. Megan Lea Sayadinejad reported her roommate had left for work the previous day and did not return. She was unable to get in touch with her roommate at all. The subject was not located, but has been entered as missing.


 

Monday night, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 1300 block of South Ohio Avenue for an equipment issue. The driver was found to not have a valid driver’s license. Juan Roberto Enrique Cabrera, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Operator’s License Required***. Cabrera was transported to the Police Department to be fingerprinted, and then was released with a summons to appear in court.


 

Officers were dispatched to a robbery report in the 400 block of West 7th Street Tuesday morning. Teresa Capraro stated someone she knew loosely was in her house, and that person stole tools and change. Capraro stated when she confronted the suspect, she was pushed to the ground. There was no further information in the report.


 

Tuesday afternoon, Officers spoke to a subject that had located a half of an unidentified pill at a residence in the 3100 block of Brianna Boulevard. The pill was seized for destruction.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Police Station Lobby for a report of found property. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the caller, Jessica A. Leible. Leible stated she had found a license plate in the Wal Mart parking lot, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard. Officers were able to make contact with the owner of the license plate, and she was able to pick up the item.


 

On the afternoon of February 15th, Officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Wisconsin Avenue for a report of trespassing. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the subject, and issued him a trespass notice from the business. It was then determined the subject had a “pick up order” because he had not appeared in court regarding a charge of Driving While Intoxicated and Speeding (26 MPH or more) from October of 2023. In the original incident, the suspect had been stopped because he was driving 117 MPH in a 35 MPH zone on East Broadway Boulevard near South Crockett Avenue. According to the probable cause statement during the original arrest, the suspect had watery, glassy eyes that were bloodshot, and was “rambling about the government tasking him with things”, and talking about having a lot of guns. The suspect declared the Officer was under arrest, and he ordered the Officer to take handcuffs off of him, and also stated he had four hours of sleep in two days. That criminal summons was issued in October 2023, and the suspect failed to appear in February 2024. After a short struggle, Officers were able to get the suspect under arrest. Earl DeWayne Scroggins, 48, of Sedalia, was arrested on his warrant for Driving While Intoxicated and Speeding, and a new charge of Resisting Arrest.


 

Monday afternoon, Officers responded to the area of West Broadway Boulevard and Winchester Drive regarding abandoned property on the corner near Aspen Dental. Upon arrival, Officers located the items. There was a great deal of personal items and trash lying in a pile. Officers did locate a couple of packages of medications. They were collected, and have been placed into evidence for safekeeping.


 

Sedalia Police responded to 726 West Main Street to investigate a reported theft. Upon arrival, Officers met with Krystal Judd. Judd informed Officers she was recently awarded the contents of the storage unit at this location, unit number 507. Judd stated she took possession of the unit on Sunday afternoon, and photographed the contents at that time. Judd stated when she returned to the storage unit just prior to Officers arrival, a dryer valued at $899.00 was now missing from the unit. There is a possible suspect, but no contact has been made at this time.


 

Officers met with Jeffrey Fredrickson in the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive on the afternoon of February 15th. Fredrickson stated the front and rear license plates were stolen off of his vehicle while it was parked at the WK Chevrolet dealership, 3310 West Broadway Boulevard, between January 16th and February 15th of 2024. There are no suspects at this time.


 

Last Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue for a report of a hit and run accident. Upon arrival, Officers met with Edward Bruehl, who stated that while he was stopped in traffic, a vehicle making a turn to head east on Broadway Boulevard jumped the median and struck a street sign. Bruehl stated the sign fell, and struck the driver’s side of his vehicle. The suspect vehicle then continued driving east on Broadway Boulevard.


 

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the office of Probation and Parole, 205 Thompson Road, for a report of a subject inside with a warrant for their arrest. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the subject and checked his information with Dispatch. Andre Lamont Ward, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested for his Probation Violation warrant from Pettis County on original charges of felony Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and Resisting Arrest by Fleeing. Ward was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked without bond.


 

Tuesday afternoon, Officers located a subject tin the Bothwell Walk in Winchester Clinic, 3700 West 10th Street who had two warrants for his arrest. Both Failure to Appear warrants from Benton County. One warrant was issued by citation in December of 2022 on a charge of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle, and the other was issued in November 2022 on a charge of Failure to Wear a Seat Belt. Larry David Hopkins Jr., 52, of Sedalia, was arrested on his warrants. Hopkins was transported to the Benton County Line, where he was transferred into the custody of Benton County without incident. Total bond was set at $144.50 cash only.


 

*In the report, The arrest date is listed as 2/14/24. However, in the narrative, Officer Benner notes the date as 2-21-24.

**In Casenet 23CY-CR02502, bond for Cunningham was raised to $3500 cash or surety. Also, the report notes Cunningham had a revoked driving status, but does not mention a charge of Driving While Revoked.

***The arrest report notes Cabrera’s physical condition as “Intoxicated”. There was no mention in the report or in Casenet of charges being filed for Driving While Intoxicated.
