Sedalia Police Reports For July 11, 2022

Sunday evening, Officers took a property damage report at the Sedalia Housing Authority, 500 Welch Court. A known subject was observed nearby the victim's vehicle shortly before neighbors noticed the victim's tires had been punctured. All witnesses on scene positively identified the suspect using a photo. Officers located the suspect and placed her under arrest for Harassment in the 2nd Degree and Tampering in the 2nd Degree (Utility Meter). Samantha L. Kinner, 37, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Carr Avenue for a report of a burglary not in progress Sunday evening. Robert Gardner reported that on the night of July 4th and again on July 10th, someone entered his garage and stole a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Sedalia Police responded to the Bothwell Regional Health Center, 601 East 14th Street, for disturbance call Sunday night. The patient left the hospital against medical advice. While on hospital grounds, the subject made suicidal threats and attempted to harm himself. The subject was taken back into the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

On the night of July 8th, Sedalia Police conducted a vehicle check in the area of West Main Street and South Harrison Avenue. During the check, the odor of illegal drugs was detected. A probable cause search resulted in the discovery of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and tobacco products. The subject possessing the items was a juvenile, therefore the items were seized for destruction.

On the evening of July 9th, a bicycle was found on the Katy Trail near South Harrison Avenue. The ownership of the bicycle isn't known. The bicycle was recovered and brought to the Sedalia Police Department for safekeeping.

Saturday night, Officers responded to the area of East Broadway Boulevard and Sellers Road for a report of a truck on fire. The Sedalia Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The truck was involved in roadway construction at the time of the fire. The truck was unoccupied, and no injuries were reported from the fire.

Sunday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of South Grand Avenue in reference to a missing person report. Officers spoke with the caller, who reported his Granddaughter had been missing since July 4th. Her current location is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers were dispatched to the area of South Hancock Avenue and East 11th Street Saturday afternoon for a report of a hit and run accident. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Steven R. Gay. Gay stated that a vehicle collided into his parked vehicle while it was travelling northbound on Hancock Avenue. Officers took photos of the damage. There are no suspects at this time.

Sunday morning, Officers responded to the 400 block of East 14th Street for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with Lacey Shull. Shull stated that while she was working at the Sylvia G Thompson Residence Center, 3333 West 10th Street, a co-worker (the suspect) got chest to chest with her and yelled in her face.

Sedalia Police responded to the 600 block of East 10th Street early Saturday morning. A subject wanted to turn in a gun they were not supposed to have. Elmer J. Miley Jr. reported he was given the gun by a friend, who was also not supposed to have it. The gun was turned into the Sedalia Police Department for safe keeping. The gun is being held at the Police Department.

Saturday night, Officers made contact with a subject in the 3300 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The subject was found to have an active Sedalia Municipal warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Driving While Revoked. Lindsey T. Pahlow, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested on the warrant, which carried a $60 cash only bond.

Officers were dispatched to the area of West 7th Street and South Harrison Avenue Saturday evening for a report of a found bicycle. Robert Kinner turned in the pink and white Magna brand bicycle, which had been abandoned in the roadway. Officers collected and secured the bicycle into the bike shed.

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East 13th Street for an assist agency call. Contact was made with the Missouri Department of Social Services, Children's Division. A walk through of the residence was conducted, and upon investigation by Officers, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was located. The marijuana and paraphernalia were seized by Officers. Brian Daniel Vance, 19, of Sedalia, was issued a summons for Possession of Marijuana.

Saturday morning, Officers responded to the Eagle Stop convenience store, 1515 Thompson Road, for a report of a subject sleeping behind the building. On arrival, Officers made contact with the subject, who was confirmed to have an active Pettis County warrant for Littering. Tina M. Swatek, 59, Homeless, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail on a bond of her own recognizance.

Officers responded to the 1400 block of South Beacon Avenue Friday evening for a report of a stolen vehicle. Contact was made with two male subjects, who reported that their vehicles were stolen by an unknown suspect sometime overnight.

Friday night, Quincy Conley came to the Police Department to make a burglary report. Conley stated that between noon and 2:00 p.m. on July 5th, items had been taken from his residence. Suspect information was provided at the time of the report.

Sedalia Police responded to the Bothwell Emergency Department, 601 West 14th Street, for a dog bite report Friday morning. The incident occurred in the 1500 block of West 4th Street. On arrival, Officers met with Destiny Thornton and her one year old child that had sustained minor injuries to her face. A report was completed to document the incident.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of West 11th Street Friday morning for a report of found property. Gloria Brown reported finding an abandoned bicycle. The owner of the bike was unable to be determined. The bike's serial number was runt through Dispatch, but it did not come back on file. The bicycle was collected and transported to the Police Department to be placed into evidence for safekeeping.
