Sedalia Police Reports For July 19, 2022

On the night of July 14th, Sedalia Fire was dispatched for a garage fire at 625 West 5th Street. The SFD arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the fire. A check of the scene revealed possible evidence a firework had been discharged, which may have contributed to the cause of the fire. At the time of the report, there is no evidence to support who discharged the firework.

Early Tuesday morning, Officers took a possible abuse report by phone from the Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Children's Mercy reported possible abuse of a juvenile within the city limits in Sedalia in the area of Scott Joplin Court. A report was completed by Officers.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop last Friday morning in the 3600 block of South Limit for a license violation. During the course of the stop, the passenger was found to have three Failure to Appear warrants for his arrest out of Henry County. Eric William Barnes, 37, of Windsor, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrants on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility, Illegal Burning, and Harassment (By Means Other Than Telephone). Barnes was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a total bond of $800.00 on the three warrants.

Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Beacon Avenue early Tuesday morning. During the stop, two license plates were seized off of the suspect vehicle. They will be returned to the DOR. No charges are being sought in relation to the stop.

Monday night, a subject was observed at the Phillips 66 gas station, 216 West Broadway Boulevard, who was known to have a warrant out of Johnson County. Officers contacted the subject and arrested him on the warrant. The warrant was a Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs). Alexander Lee Peake, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Bond on the warrant was set at $750 cash only.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 400 block of South Quincy Avenue Monday morning in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with an adult male and female. The subjects live together, and stated they were involved in an altercation before Officers arrived. A primary physical aggressor could not be determined. A 12 hour log was entered in reference to the call.

Monday morning, Officers responded to the Open Door, 612 South Hancock Avenue, for a report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with Galina Isayko. Isayko stated her vehicle was stolen from the parking lot while she was inside the business.
