Sedalia Police Reports for July 20, 2021

Late Monday night, a car was stopped in the area of West 3rd Street and South Osage Avenue for the driver having a revoked driving status. During the course of the investigation, the driver attempted to walk away from the stop and resisted arrest. Cory J. Draper, 31, of Sedalia, was ultimately arrested for felony Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Revoked, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and felony Resisting Arrest. Draper was transported to the Sedalia Police Headquarters, the hospital, and then the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold.

Monday evening, Officers responded near the area of the 700 block of East 7th Street for a theft report. Christopher Stoner reported three bicycles having been stolen from his residence between Sunday night and Monday morning. Stoner wished to pursue charges.

Officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of South Stewart Avenue early Tuesday morning for a report of a disturbance. The caller advised the suspect left in a Dodge Caliber, which was located and stopped at South Grand Avenue and West 24th Street. Cruz Escobar, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and a Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway While Suspended. Escobar was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was given a citation and a court date, with bond set at $60 cash only for the warrant.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1400 block of South Carr Avenue for a report of found property Monday night. Jared Metcalf reported finding a cellular phone on his front porch. The item was collected and later placed into evidence holding as found property.

Monday afternoon, Officers responded to the 1100 block of West 4th Street for a theft report. When Officers arrived, they made contact with Carrie Lee Hardy, who stated that her bike was stolen from the bike rack of her vehicle. Hardy stated the bike went missing in the overnight hours. The bike has not been located at the time of the report.

Officers responded to the 300 block of McAnally Court for a physical domestic disturbance Monday afternoon. On arrival, Officers met with both parties involved. It was unable to be determined who was the primary physical aggressor. Neither party wished to pursue charges. A 12 hour report was completed to document the incident.

Monday morning, Officers responded to the area of West 7th Street and South Vermont Avenue for a possible suicidal subject. On arrival, the subject claimed she was not suicidal, but had just been assaulted by her husband. She had injuries to her face, neck, and leg. Contact was made with her husband at his residence. Benjamin L. Adams, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. State charges of Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree are being requested to the prosecutor.

Monday morning, Amber L. Grandstaff came to the Police Headquarters to make a theft report of a wallet with contents. Grandstaff reported that a men's camouflage wallet had been taken from the area of North Moniteau Avenue and West Jefferson Street last Friday.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of West 5th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance last Wednesday afternoon. Contact was made with the victim, who reported that he had been assaulted by a known subject. The suspect had left the residence prior to Officers arriving.
