Sedalia Police Reports For July 20, 2022

Early Wednesday morning, a traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and Industrial Road. Brandon L. Kalra, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender). Kalra was booked and released and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed early Tuesday morning in the area of East 7th Street and South Montgomery Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted. After asking the driver for his identification, the driver stated he did not have a driver's license. Jose Chuquie, 45, of Sedalia, was arrested for No Operator's License, No Proof of Insurance, Speeding, and No Headlights. Chuquie was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released with a court date.

Tuesday night, Officers responded to the area of South Ohio Avenue and East 4th Street for reports of an intoxicated subject dancing around street light poles and harassing others. After releasing the subject to go back to his residence, Officers received another call on the subject. Once the subject was located, he was placed into protective custody due to intoxication. The subject was unable to care for himself. Jesse R. Smith, 55, Homeless, was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 12 hour Safekeeping hold.

Officers responded to the 2200 block of West 5th Street Tuesday afternoon for a report of a cardiac arrest. On arrival, Officers located a subject who was non responsive in a back bedroom. Life saving measures were started by Officers, and the subject began to breathe on his own again. Sedalia Fire and PCAD responded and took over care of the subject. He was transported to the Bothwell Hospital for further treatment.

Monday morning, Officers responded to the area of West 5th Street and South Barrett Avenue for a report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident. The original incident happened at the Open Door, 111 West 6th Street. Officers spoke with Juan A. Merlos Escobar, who stated the suspect fled the area on foot after being followed in a vehicle. The suspect has been identified, and state charges of Leaving the Scene of A Motor Vehicle Accident and Ignition Interlock Required are being submitted to the Prosecutor for review.

Sedalia Police spoke with Delores Stelling on Tuesday afternoon in reference to a theft. Stelling stated that hubcaps were stolen off of her Mercury passenger car while it was parked at the Missouri State Fairgrounds, 2503 West 16th Street.

Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South State Fair Boulevard and West 5th Street early Monday morning. A K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, which was searched. During the search, Officers located 12 ounces of marijuana as well as methamphetamine. Shawna B. Dewey, 25, of Boonville, was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug and felony Possession of Marijuana with bond amount to be determined.

Monday morning, Officers responded to the area of East 7th Street and South New York Avenue in reference to a possible disturbance. A subject was reported to have jumped in front of a vehicle in the area. The subject then proceeded to assault the driver and cause damage to the vehicle. The value of the damage was estimated to be approximately $500. The suspect has not been located at this time.

Tuesday morning, Officers responded to the Probation and Parole Office, 205 Thompson Boulevard, for a warrant check. A computer check through Dispatch confirmed the suspect to have an active warrant out of Polk County. The warrant was a Failure to Appear on original charges of Probation Violation in a felony Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident charge from 2020. Christopher Glenn Allmon, 31, of Springfield, was arrested on the warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail with a cash only bond of $5,000.
