Early Wednesday morning, Officers responded to the 600 block of West 3rd Street in response to a domestic disturbance.  When Officers arrived, two parties were located.  A male subject, Matthew Lee Childs, 37, of Sedalia was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold on a felony charge of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was driving partially in the turn lane Wednesday morning.  When Officers made contact with the driver, the Officer could smell the odor of intoxicants. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated and that he had a Failure to Appear warrant from Morgan County on an original charge of Driving Without Maintaining Proof of Financial Responsibility. Cory R. Smith, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC was over 0.08.  Smith was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked on his warrant, with a bond of $300 cash only.  A request for a charge of Driving While Intoxicated Prior Offender has been submitted to the prosecutor.


 

Monday night, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that did not have working license plate lights.  During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the driver of the vehicle had an active order of protection against one of the passengers in the vehicle.  Eric S. Koons, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released. A request for a charge of Violation of an Order of Protection has been submitted to the prosecutor.


 

Officers responded to the 200 block of South Engineer for a report of a verbal disturbance Tuesday night.  Upon arrival, Officers located the suspect, who was combative.  After a short scuffle, the suspect was placed under arrest for Harassment, felony Assault in the 3rd Degree and felony Resisting Arrest. Sean Sebastian Burke, 49, Of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold. The victim who was assaulted reported minor injuries.


 

Early Tuesday morning, Officers observed a black Ford Fusion travelling westbound on West 6th street.  A check of the license plate and registered owner showed the owner did not have a valid Missouri driver's license. During the stop, the driver consented to a search, and a small amount of methamphetamine was located on her person. Tammy Ann Ballew, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug and transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the 1300 block of East 24th Street for a report of found property Tuesday night.  When Officers arrived on the scene, a bike was located. The bike was collected and will be placed into evidence for safe keeping.


 

On the night of July 23rd, Officers were dispatched to the McDonald's restaurant in the 1600 block of South Limit for a hit and run accident. The accident left damages to the building, a trash can, an outdoor ash tray and a newspaper dispenser. The driver fled the scene in the vehicle, but was identified through an investigation and charges are being requested.


 

Monday night, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West 14th Street and South Kentucky Avenue for a license violation. The driver of the vehicle was found to have an active warrant for her arrest out of the Pettis County.  Shannon K. Jones, 44, of Sedalia, was arrested for a Probation Violation warrant on an original charge of Non Support in Excess of 12 Months. Jones was transported to the Pettis County Jail with a $600 cash only bond.


 

Officers were called to the intersection of West 24th and South Grand Avenue for a found property report Monday night.  The caller stated he located a key lying on the roadway.  The key was entered into evidence as found property.


 

Monday night, Officers responded to the 200 block of South Massachusetts for a report of property damage.  The victim, Vanessa Turner, said her ex boyfriend kicked the front door to her apartment and caused damage to it. The suspect, Martez Lamont Troy Jr., 34, of Sedalia, was located, arrested, and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Troy was booked and released for a charge of misdemeanor Property Damage in the 2nd Degree.


 

Tuesday afternoon, Police took a report in the lobby of the Police Department in regards to a physical disturbance that occurred earlier in the day on West Broadway Boulevard. The suspect is known at this time, and charges are being submitted to the prosecutor.


 

Sedalia Police took a report of a burglary in the Police Station lobby Tuesday afternoon.  Benito Rodriguez stated that on July 22nd, someone entered his house in the 900 block of East 14th and stole tools. Rodriguez stated that his tools are now being sold on Facebook.


 

On the afternoon of July 19th, Officers were dispatched to the American Inn, in the 1200 block of South Limit, for a report of property damage.  Upon arrival Officers met with Mayuriben B. Patel, who stated someone had damaged the carpet in one of the hotel rooms.  At the time, the business did not wish to pursue charges.


 

Tuesday afternoon, Sedalia Police took a report over the phone at the Police Department from Katherine Lynn Aguilar in regards to property damage that took place between the time of the call and the previous evening in 700 East Broadway. There were no reported injuries and the investigation is ongoing.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Police Station lobby for a report of a theft Tuesday afternoon.  Officers met with Traver Uresse Smith the Second, who stated that on July 24th, someone stole his pistol from inside his house. Smith estimated the pistol to be worth $250.00.


 

Officers responded to a physical disturbance in progress happening in front of the Bothwell Regional Health Center Tuesday afternoon.  Officers met with two subjects involved.  One subject, Dalton Wright, 27, of Sedalia, was found to have an active Pettis County Warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Wright was arrested for the warrant and a charge of Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree.  Wright was taken to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and placed on a 24 hour hold with a bond of $7500 cash or surety.


 

Monday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of East 7th in reference to a disturbance.  One of the parties jumped on the hood of the other's vehicle and punched their windshield.  Charges of property damage are being submitted to the prosecutor.


 

Tuesday morning, Officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding the area of West Broadway Boulevard and Curry Avenue.  Officers checked the passenger's information through Dispatch, who confirmed he had a felony Pettis County warrant for Non Support In Excess of 12 Months and a Failure to Appear warrant out of Randolph County for an original charge of Violation Involving Child Support. Homer Charles Jacob Lucas, 38, of Otterville, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Both warrants had bonds of $500 cash.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a found property report Tuesday afternoon.  An employee of the Comfort Inn, in the 3600 block of West Broadway, brought in a meth pipe and a make up bag full of receipts and gift cards that were found on the property.  The pipe was entered into evidence for destruction, and the makeup bag was entered into evidence for safekeeping.


 

Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of West 16th and South Barrett Avenue in reference to a traffic complaint and possible hit and run.  The caller followed the vehicle, where it pulled into the parking lot of the Fav Trip in the 200 block of West Broadway.  Officers arrived on the scene as the vehicle stopped.  A probable cause search, due to the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, revealed marijuana and Xanax.  The driver, Alexis Kerr, 18, of Sedalia, was arrested and placed on a 24 hour hold pending state charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance.  The passenger Alexis A. Sisemore, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested and placed on a 12 hour hold for protective custody.
