Sedalia Police Reports For July 8, 2022

Thursday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of North Stewart Avenue for a reported theft incident. Penni Hendrickson reported a lawn mower was stolen off of the property. The suspect is unknown at this time.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1300 block of South Lamine Avenue Thursday evening in reference to found property. Harold Martin stated he found a debit card in the alley. The owner could not be located, and the debit card was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Wednesday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West 5th Street for a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, initial contact was made with individuals who were later determined to be the suspects involved. The incident is under further investigation, there is no additional information in the report at news time.

Officers took a report of possible theft in the lobby of the Police Department Thursday night. Contact was made with Daniel Scott Schneider. Schneider stated he had lost or had his cell phone stolen approximately a month ago. The incident occurred at the Casey's General Store, 1601 East Broadway Boulevard. The value of the cell phone is set at $950.00.

On the morning of July 7th, Officers responded to the 600 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a dead body. Officers located a deceased male inside a vehicle. The cause of death is currently unknown.

Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Pettis County Jail, 333 South Lamine Avenue in reference to a violation of an ex parte. The violation occurred on June 12th during a supervised visit. At the conclusion of the supervised visit, the suspect came within 100 yards of the petitioner while getting in his car to leave. The suspect denies this occurred; however, the supervisor was also a witness.

Thursday afternoon, an Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of McAnally Court in reference to a lost ID report. Keith Steiner stated he lost his ID sometime within the last two weeks.

Sedalia Police found a utility pole in the area of West 24th Street and South Kentucky Avenue that appeared to have been damaged. The pole had been struck by a motor vehicle. The damage was discovered by the Officer Thursday afternoon. The suspect has not been identified.

Officers were dispatched to the ABC Mini Storage, 1403 West Main Street Wednesday morning in reference to a property damage report. An unidentified subject cut fencing to the storage units, then broke into a storage unit.

Wednesday afternoon, an Officer was dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a report of enticement of a child. The child was using the chat function of Words With Friends in the 700 block of West 7th Street. The Adult turned the conversation sexual and the parent reported the incident immediately upon discovering this.

Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of South Massachusetts Avenue in reference to stolen property Wednesday afternoon. Jimmie Sanders reported a bike was stolen earlier that afternoon.
