Monday evening, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Motel 6, 3402 West Broadway Boulevard, for a license violation. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot and was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. A search of the vehicle resulted in the finding of a large amount of methamphetamine. Eric Ryan Janes, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested for Trafficking Drugs in the 2nd Degree, felony Resisting Arrest, and Driving While Suspended.


 

An Officer was dispatched to the Orscheln store, 2424 South Limit Avenue Monday afternoon in reference to a theft report. The suspect was caught attempting to steal an item from the store, but was apprehended by loss prevention. The subject was cooperative. Gary E. Nickerson, 72, of Sedalia, was issued a court summons for Stealing and released.


 

Sedalia Police performed a traffic stop on a silver Honda Civic at West 28th Street and South Kentucky Avenue for speeding Monday afternoon. During the stop, Officers learned the driver had a revoked license in the state of Missouri. Melissa L. Dorsey, 32, of Sedalia, was issued a municipal citation for Driving While Revoked and given a court date.


 

Monday afternoon, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of West 16th Street and South Carr Avenue. During a consensual search of the vehicle, Officers found marijuana paraphernalia related to one subject. Maggie D.R. Miller, 17, of Sedalia, was issued a summons at the scene for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with a court date.


 

Sedalia Police took a report in the lobby of the Police Department regarding possible physical child abuse Monday afternoon. A report was completed and sent to the Department of Social Services Children's Division.


 

Monday afternoon, Sedalia Police took a report over the phone from David Allen Woodall III in regards to forgery, identity theft, and stealing that occurred in the 900 block of West Third Street.


 

Officers responded to the intersection of West 17th Street and South Vermont Avenue in reference to a vehicle accident Monday morning. During the investigation, it was revealed that one of the drivers had a confirmed warrant out of Cole County. Clinton T. Clough, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested on his warrant for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 2nd Degree. Clough was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was given a court date and bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.


 

On the afternoon of June 24th, Sedalia Police Officers were dispatched to the Walgreens store, 801 South Limit Avenue, for a peace disturbance report. Dispatch advised that the suspect was yelling at people had punched a Jeep in the area. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with several subjects who all indicated the suspect was causing alarm to them. The suspect came walking into the parking lot, where he was placed under arrest for Public Peace Disturbance. The suspect then decided to spit in an Officer's face before being put in the back of the patrol car. Jared W. Sanders, 40, Homeless, was transported to the BRHC ER to be deemed fit for confinement. From there, Sanders was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold pending the filing of state charges of Peace Disturbance and felony Assault in the 3rd Degree.


 

Last Thursday morning, Dustin Connell came into the Sedalia Police Department lobby to turn in a wallet he found on the side of the road in the area of West Main Street and North Park Avenue. Officers attempted to make contact with the subject by calling him and going to his address, but was unable to do so. The wallet was then placed into evidence for safe keeping.


 

Sedalia Police took a report of property found at the Sunset Motel, 3615 South Limit Avenue. The report was taken in the lobby of the Police Department last Thursday afternoon. The property is being held for safekeeping.
