Sedalia Police reports 3-10-20
Sedalia Police arrested 22-year-old Miguel A. Chavez of Sedalia at 17th and Vermont around 7 a.m. Saturday after conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle with no license plate lights. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana wax and cocaine. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. The passenger, 19-year-old Javier Antonio Reyes of Sedalia was arrested for possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Both were taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold.
On Saturday, a woman shopping at WalMart, 3201 W. Broadway, noticed damage to her rear bumper on her 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 when she returned to her truck. The incident occurred between 12:35 and 12:45 p.m. The damage was estimated at $100 - $800. Management was contacted for surveillance video.
The City of Sedalia's compost facility, 27882 Highway U, was burglarized overnight, it was reported on Saturday morning. A front window of the office building was broken out, and a flip phone was stolen.
On Saturday, Sedalia Police arrested 32-year-old James E. Chapman of Sedalia in the 1000 block of North Grand after conducting a warrant check. Chapman was charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine and was also wanted on a misdemeanor Pettis County warrant with a $5,000 cash or surety bond. Chapman was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold.
On Friday, Ruth Edwards reported the theft of collector's quarters in the 500 block of East Saline. The value of the quarters was unknown.
