Sedalia Police arrested 60-year-old Kenton David Johnson of Pettis County after conducting a car stop on a vehicle with expired registration at Broadway and Highway M at 8:42 p.m. Feb. 26. A computer check revealed that Johnson was wanted on a Pettis County warrant with $7500 cash or surety bond. He was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail. A passenger in the car was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. It was seized for destruction, and no charges were filed on that individual.


 

23-year-old Paris Katherine Higgins was arrested Feb. 25 after Sedalia Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of W. 7th involving a male and female involved in a physical altercation. The male had minor injuries and the female was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold for 3rd degree assault.


 

On Feb. 26, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 6th and Engineer and discovered that 44-year-old Andre Lorenzo Watts of Sedalia was a fugitive from justice out of Minnesota. Watts was also found to be driving while suspended. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold.


 

35-year-old Richard T. Beaulieu Plona of Sedalia was arrested after Sedalia Police conducted a warrant check near 5th and Engineer. Plona was wanted on two Municipal warrants for expired plates and failure to maintain financial responsibility, and a Warrensburg warrant for stealing. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $254 cash bond, with a March 31 court date.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the 400 block of North Prospect on a domestic disturbance call around 1:30 p.m. Feb. 27. Three adults were located inside the home. There were no injuries reported, and a 12-hour log was created.


 

Officer Elwood located two people sitting inside a running vehicle behind a closed business at 2127 West Broadway at 12:52 a.m. Friday. Contact was made with the subjects, and discovered they were dumpster diving. A computer check revealed that the driver, 29-year-old Kevin R. Payne, was wanted on four probation and parole warrants out of Johnson County for burglary and theft. Payne was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a total cash bond amount of $20,000. His court date was TBA.


 

On Saturday at 3:55 a.m., Sedalia Police were called to the 700 block of E. 10th on a burglary. According to a report, the victim said her ex-boyfriend entered her residence and punched a hole in her wall. The suspect was later arrested outside the residence. 29-year-old Nicolas B. Pogue was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold, and charged with 2nd degree burglary, 2nd degree property damage and 4th degree domestic assault.


 

On Feb. 28, a woman reported that her vehicle was stolen from 818 Thompson while she was at work. According to a report, she parked her car in the west lot at 8 a.m. When she returned at 5 p.m., she was unable to locate her vehicle. Video surveillance footage showed the truck leaving the lot at 2:54 p.m. traveling east. The vehicle was entered into MULES as stolen.


 

Sedalia Police took a report from Alejandra Vitales on Feb. 28, who reported that her bicycle was stolen on Aug. 3. It was found at a pawn shop in Sedalia last week. The person who sold them the bike is unknown, it was noted in the report. The bike is being held by police for 30 days.


On Feb. 27 around 9 p.m., Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop and discovered that 24-year-old Carl Michael Anthony Ortiz Torres of Sedalia was driving while suspended out of Wyoming. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released.


 

On Feb. 27 at 1:55 a.m., Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 12th and Ohio and discovered that 25-year-old Schyler Anthony Ray of Sedalia was driving while suspended and driving with no proof of insurance. Ray was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released.


 

On Feb. 27, 32-year-old Kristal M. Morris of Sedalia turned herself in to Sedalia Police on a Municipal warrant for a traffic offense. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $60 bond with an April 15 court date.


 

On Feb. 28, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation at 6th and Grand. A computer check revealed that the driver, 19-year-old Joseph E. Weller of Pettis County, was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant out of Pettis County for marijuana possession. Weller was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $254.50 cash bond. His court date is TBA.


 

Menard's, 4400 Wisconsin, reported the theft of a $900 air compressor from the store on Feb. 29.


 

On Feb. 28, a man reported that a license plate was stolen from his vehicle while he was parked in the lot while he was was working at 3110 W. Broadway. After work, he noticed his plate was missing.


 

On Feb. 28, Tara L. Hieronymus reported the theft of a prescription medication from her unlocked vehicle in the 400 block of East 3rd. The theft occurred overnight between 2 and 8 a.m.


 

On Saturday, Sedalia Police arrested 31-year-old Anthony L. Melton of Sedalia after a traffic stop at 5th and Vermont. He was wanted on a felony Pettis County warrant for larceny. Melton was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $500 cash bond.


 

On Saturday around 10 a.m., Sedalia Police responded to the 100 block of E. Hogan on a deceased person. The deputy corner was called, and the death was confirmed. The death was not deemed suspicious.

On Friday, Sedalia Police were called to Shoe Sensation, 2700 West Broadway, Suite C, on a theft in progress. While police were in route, suspects left the store and went east on Broadway. One officer located them and one suspect ran, but was quickly apprehended by another officer. 43-year-old Nathan S. McDonald of Sedalia was arrested and charged with ID theft and resisting arrest. He was also wanted on two warrants – one with a $3,000 bond and the other with a $5,000 bond. The other suspect who didn't run was cleared of all charges, and released at the scene.


 

On Friday night around 8 p.m., Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no license plates at Main and Massachusetts. A search yielded methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver, 29-year-old Marcus Wayne Iman of Sedalia, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
