Sedalia Police Reports For March 28th, 2022

Early Monday morning, Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of West 20th Street and South Park Avenue. The vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed, heading into the county. Officers decided to stop pursuing the vehicle for public safety concerns. The investigation is ongoing.

On the night of March 25th, Officers took a report over the phone in regards to a renter's scam. The victim stated they had inquired about a residence, and money was sent via an online app. The victim stated they had requested the money back due to not wanting the residence anymore. The suspect has not responded back. The investigation is still ongoing.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the intersection of East 10th Street and South Ingram Avenue Sunday evening for a report of a disturbance with weapons. Dispatch advised that there was a shovel involved, along with approximately 10 to 15 people. Officers arrived and spoke to the people involved. It was found that a physical altercation took place in the roadway. Charges are being pursued for assault.

Officers stopped a vehicle in 2000 block of South Limit Avenue Sunday night for failing to signal a lane change. A passenger in the vehicle was found to have three warrants out of Pettis County. The warrants were for charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and two Failure to Appear warrants on original charges of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A request was made to the arrestee to provide a DNA sample. The arrestee refused to do so. A search warrant was obtained, compelling under Judge's order the arrestee provide a DNA sample. The arrestee still refused to do so. Samuel Isiah Gravitt III, 29, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest pending charges of Obstructing Government Operations, Interference With Legal Process, and felony Tampering with Physical Evidence, along with the warrants. Gravitt was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail pending bond of $10,500 cash or surety on the warrants.

Sunday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to a disturbance at Housel Park, in the 200 block of East Howard Street. Following an assault, one juvenile was taken to the Bothwell Regional Health Center for medical treatment. The other party was identified and provided a statement.

Friday afternoon, Officers met with Jeremy Bogart in the Police Headquarters Lobby in regard to a report of theft that had occurred in the 800 block of East 5th Street the day before. An unknown suspect took a small trampoline from Bogart's yard. The suspect has not been identified at this time.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard Saturday morning in reference to a theft report. The suspect was cooperative, and remained on the scene. Allison K. Utz, 29, of Sedalia was issued a court summons for Stealing and released from the scene after all merchandise was recovered.

Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department Saturday afternoon in reference to a subject check. A check of the subject found they had an active warrant from Benton County for Failure to Appear on original charges of Driving While Revoked. When the warrant was confirmed, Rudolph Henry, 61, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail, pending a cash or surety bond of $2500.

Sedalia Police met with Jimmie Sanders in the Police Department's lobby in regards to a theft report Sunday afternoon. Sanders believes someone took his wallet in the last two weeks, and may know where it is. At the time of the report, it has yet to be located.

Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Craftsman Drive for a report of property damage. Officers met with Olivia Raines, who stated that the morning of March 18th, someone scratched the paint on her vehicle. Raines was able to provide Officers with video camera footage of the incident.

Officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Thompson Boulevard and West 11th Street for speeding Sunday morning. Officers made contact with the driver and relayed their information to Dispatch. It was revealed the driver's license was revoked out of Missouri. Hollie R. Bramble, 42, of Cole Camp, was arrested for Driving While Revoked. Bramble was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released pending state charges.

Saturday night, Officers initiated a warrant check at an address in the 1800 block of East Harvey Street. An individual's information was run through Dispatch and found to have three warrants for his arrest. Two warrants were from Cooper County for Probation Violation on original charges of Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance ($50,000 surety bond), and one warrant was from Sedalia for Failure to Appear on original charges of Operating a Motorcycle Without A Validated License. Drew Tyler Abney, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested on the warrants and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle Friday night in the area of West Main Street and South Harrison Avenue for defective tail lights. Contact was made with the driver and a computer check was completed. Dispatch stated that he was a valid driver with no warrants for his arrest. A probable cause search of the vehicle because of an odor of drugs was conducted. The search revealed drugs and drug equipment. John W. Marquess, 34, of Sedalia, was issued a citation for Possession of Marijuana and a court date.

Friday night, Officers conducted a vehicle stop in the area of East Broadway Boulevard and East 12th Street. Officers identified the driver and ran his information through Dispatch. It was confirmed the driver had a suspended driving status. Jimmie A. Ray II, 48, of Sedalia, was issued a citation for Driving While Suspended with a court date.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Thompson Road Friday afternoon, the Probation and Parole Office, for a report of a subject with a warrant. Officers made contact with the suspect and confirmed his Failure to Appear warrant out of Boone County on original charges of Domestic Assault. Marcus Lamar Munzo, 33, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a cash or surety bond of $25,000.

Friday afternoon, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of East 4th Street after observing that it had expired registration. A computer check through Dispatch revealed that the driver's Missouri driving privileges were revoked. Susan Dawn McNeal, 41, of Sedalia, was issued a summons for Driving While Revoked with a court date and released.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 300 block of West 5th Street Friday morning for a possible burglary in progress. Investigation revealed there was no burglary. One of the subjects was recognized as having multiple warrants for his arrest. One was a misdemeanor Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Driving While Intoxicated, and another was a felony Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While Revoked. Both were issued by Pettis County. Cody Austin Harvey, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on the warrants, pending a $250 cash only bond and a $25,000 cash or surety bond.

On the afternoon of March 22nd, Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of West 5th Street regarding a disturbance. Abigail Hathaway said that a family member stole a laptop from her, and then assaulted her while trying to leave. The suspect could not be located, and state charges are being requested.

Officers took a report at the Police Station on the afternoon of March 22nd in regard to forgery. Matthew David Cook reported that a female had forged his signature on some documents at the Stephane Morris Nissan store, 3600 South Limit Avenue. The results of the investigation were inconclusive and no charges are being submitted.

Friday afternoon, Officers stopped a vehicle near the intersection of West 15th Street and South Missouri Avenue after observing the registration was expired. A computer check through Dispatch showed that the driver had an active warrant for his arrest. The warrant was from Sedalia for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Failing to Have Valid Insurance. Matias Arehiga Hernandez, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a $147 cash bond.

Friday morning, Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a possible domestic disturbance. The investigation was inconclusive, but a report was made to document the situation.
