Sedalia Police Reports for May 10, 2024

Thursday evening, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a dog bite. Both parties were present. The bite occurred in the 2300 block of South Ohio Avenue. Enough information was gathered to generate a report.
Early Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 300 block of East 2nd Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. The victim stated she and her boyfriend were in a physical altercation. The boyfriend left the scene before Officers arrived. The suspect has been identified, and state charges are being requested.
Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of West 16th Street in reference to an assault. Officers gathered information for a report. The investigation is ongoing.
Officers observed a subject walking in the middle of the street Thursday morning in the area of East 16th Street and South Center Avenue. The Officer made contact with the subject and checked their information with Dispatch. Dispatch confirmed the subject to have a Failure to Appear warrant out of Sedalia. The warrant was filed after an incident in January of 2024. The subject had received a citation for Stealing from the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard. She did not appear in court in March, and an FTA was issued in April. Akeisha D. Sims, 31, Homeless, was arrested for her Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Stealing. Sims was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked, with a bond of $60 cash only.
Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of West Broadway Boulevard and Industrial Drive in reference to a property damage report. The victim did not wish to pursue charges, but said a ricochet from a bb gun hit her vehicle. The suspect said he was shooting at a pigeon, and the ricochet hit the vehicle. The incident was documented using a general report.
Officers responded to investigate a report of abandoned property Thursday afternoon. Officers responded to the 700 block of East 3rd Street and located an abandoned bicycle. Officers were unable to locate the owner. The bicycle was transported to the bike shed to held for safekeeping.
On the afternoon of May 8th, Officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Southwest Boulevard and Skyline Drive on a vehicle that had expired registration. Officers discovered the driver had a suspended driving license. Michael Dale Kearney Jr., 31, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and Failure to Register Annually With the Department of Revenue. Kearney was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.
