This article is compiled from the Sedalia Police Department reports.

Late Thursday night, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Scott Joplin Court in reference to a disturbance. When Officers arrived, they spoke with the parties involved and witnesses, determining a primary physical aggressor. Malcolm L. Briscoe Jr., 30, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center for a medical evaluation. A request for the charge of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree has been submitted to the prosecutor.


Wednesday evening, Officers took a report in the lobby of the Police Department in reference to lost property. Polly J and Grodena McDonald reported a wallet had been lost from the 2400 block of Killion Drive sometime in the past few weeks. A general information report was taken for documentation.


Sedalia Police were dispatched to the American Freight Furniture Store, 3200 West Broadway Boulevard Thursday evening in reference to a hit and run accident. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Faustino G Alonso Rodriguez, who stated that his truck was hit while it was parked in the lot. There have not been any arrests made at this time.


Thursday night, Officers took a report from Margaret Herrington about a stolen vehicle that was last seen in Sedalia. The vehicle was not located and was entered into NCIC as stolen.


Officers responded to the 1000 block of West 10th Street in reference to found property Thursday evening. Gregory A Wyrick Sr. reported items that were found inside the residence. The items were returned to the Police Department and entered as found property.


Thursday evening, Officers were notified of a wallet found in the 100 block of South Prospect Avenue. Inside the wallet, information was found and the owner was contacted. The wallet was placed into evidence for safe keeping until the owner can arrange to pick it up.


Sedalia Police were dispatched to a private property hit and run accident Thursday evening. Charlotte Vinson reported the accident to have occurred in the 100 block of South Prospect. The incident is under investigation.


Officers were dispatched to the Police Station lobby Thursday afternoon for a report of an incident that involved a minor that lives in Texas. The Child Abuse Hotline was contacted and information was passed on to the agencies in Texas.


Thursday afternoon, Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Carr in reference to a theft. Anthony Quick stated that sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday, an orange 196cc Coleman Mini Bike was taken from his property.


A subject came into the Sedalia Police Department lobby Thursday afternoon to report a theft that occurred at the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard. The complainant stated that three subjects came into the business, grabbed several items, and went to the checkout. There they scanned items that cost a considerable amount less than the items they left the store with. The suspects have not been identified at this time.


On the afternoon of May 8th, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for improper registration in the area of West Main Street and South Osage Avenue. Contact was made with the driver, and she was informed of the reason for the stop. Upon request, the driver handed over the registration, title, and a Missouri Driver's License. Her information was given to Dispatch, who stated she was valid with no warrants. The license plate was seized and the driver was released from the scene. More information was obtained on May 12th for the plate that was on the vehicle. A charge of Forgery will be submitted to the State Prosecutor for consideration.


Thursday morning, Officers spoke with Keri Kimbrell on the phone in reference to a theft that occurred in the 1100 block of East 5th Street. Kimbrell stated that a family member stole a Social Security check intended for her grandparent.


Early Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 600 block of East 13th Street in reference to a physical domestic disturbance. Officers made contact with both parties. Both parties suffered minor injuries. A 12 hour log was done to document the incident.


On the evening of May 3rd, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Freddy's Steakburgers, 3171 West Broadway Boulevard, for a license violation. The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of marijuana, a grinder and marijuana pipe. There was no further information in the report.


Thursday morning, Officers responded to Carr Diesel, 3907 South Limit Avenue, in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, Officers met with the owner of the business, who stated several vehicles on the lot were entered during the overnight hours. One of the vehicles had a stereo stolen out of it. At the time of the report, the suspect has not yet been identified.
