Early Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West 7th Street to investigate a past physical domestic assault. Officers spoke with both parties, and a primary physical aggressor was determined. The report notes the primary physical aggressor was also intoxicated at the time of the arrest. Jammie Morgan Newland, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree and Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. Newland was transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Wednesday night, Officers collected a stolen property report. Jeremy J. Faulk reported a family member’s bicycle was stolen from his house in the 200 block of East Booneville Street. The bike was stolen in the early morning hours of April 24th. Information for the report was collected.


 

Sedalia Police took a report of theft Wednesday night. Erica L. Lee reported a family member’s bicycle had been stolen from the residence in the 1800 block of East 6th Street. The bicycle was stolen at some point earlier that same day. The victim located a Facebook post of the bicycle, and was able to recover it. The suspect is unknown at this time.

Officers observed a car sitting at the northbound red light on South State Fair Boulevard at West Broadway Boulevard Sunday morning. Officers observed the car disobey the signal light, and travel through the red light. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver was impaired by drugs. Devin DeWayne Dotson, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Class A)*, Failure to Stop at a Red Light, and Incorrectly Transporting Children Under the Age of 16 (No Child Restraint).


 

Wednesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Breaktime Store, 808 East Broadway Boulevard, in regards to an attempted burglary that occurred sometime in the night. On arrival, Officers spoke with the reporting party, and gathered information to make a report.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the lobby of the Police Department to answer questions about an ex-parte violation Wednesday morning. The violation occurred in the 2400 block of Dennis Road. Officers gathered information from the reporting party, who wishes to pursue charges.


 

On the morning of April 28th, Officers responded to the 1300 block of East 11th Street regarding a hit and run accident. Nicole Breshear stated a vehicle had been struck in the overnight hours. The striking vehicle has not been located at this time. A report was generated of the incident.


 

*Missouri 577.010. Driving while intoxicated — sentencing restrictions.
1. A person commits the offense of driving while intoxicated if he or she operates a vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.
2. The offense of driving while intoxicated is:
(1) A class B misdemeanor;
(2) A class A misdemeanor if:
(a) The defendant is a prior offender; or
(b) A person less than seventeen years of age is present in the vehicle.
*Missouri 307.179. Definitions — transporting children under sixteen years of age, restraint systems — penalty — exceptions — program of public information. — 1. As used in this section, the following terms shall mean:
(1) "Child booster seat", a seating system which meets the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards set forth in 49 C.F.R. 571.213, as amended, that is designed to elevate a child to properly sit in a federally approved safety belt system;
(2) "Child passenger restraint system", a seating system which meets the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards set forth in 49 C.F.R. 571.213, as amended, and which is either permanently affixed to a motor vehicle or is affixed to such vehicle by a safety belt or a universal attachment system;
(3) "Driver", a person who is in actual physical control of a motor vehicle.
2. Every driver transporting a child under the age of sixteen years shall be responsible, when transporting such child in a motor vehicle operated by that driver on the streets or highways of this state, for providing for the protection of such child as follows:
(1) Children less than four years of age, regardless of weight, shall be secured in a child passenger restraint system appropriate for that child;
(2) Children weighing less than forty pounds, regardless of age, shall be secured in a child passenger restraint system appropriate for that child;
(3) Children at least four years of age but less than eight years of age, who also weigh at least forty pounds but less than eighty pounds, and who are also less than four feet, nine inches tall, shall be secured in a child passenger restraint system or booster seat appropriate for that child;
(4) Children at least eighty pounds or children more than four feet, nine inches in height shall be secured by a vehicle safety belt or booster seat appropriate for that child;
(5) A child who otherwise would be required to be secured in a booster seat may be transported in the back seat of a motor vehicle while wearing only a lap belt if the back seat of the motor vehicle is not equipped with a combination lap and shoulder belt for booster seat installation;
(6) When transporting children in the immediate family when there are more children than there are seating positions in the enclosed area of a motor vehicle, the children who are not able to be restrained by a child safety restraint device appropriate for the child shall sit in the area behind the front seat of the motor vehicle unless the motor vehicle is designed only for a front seat area. The driver transporting children referred to in this subsection is not in violation of this section.
