Sedalia Police Reports For May 7, 2021

Thursday evening, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the lobby of the Sedalia Police Department for a report of a found license plate near West Broadway Boulevard and South Beacon Avenue. The registered owner of the plate was contacted and it was returned to them.
Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle Thursday night in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Vermont Avenue for failing to use its turn signal. A check through Dispatch showed the driver did not have a valid license. Officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle found marijuana and an open intoxicant container. The marijuana was seized for destruction. No charges were sought for those two violations. The driver, who was not named in the report, was issued a city ticket for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without A Valid License.
Late Thursday night, Officers responded to the 800 block of West 16th Street for a disturbance. Officers made contact with the caller, Misty Logan, who said her son had brandished a knife at her and threatened her with it. The suspect broke the front door window. Logan wished to pursue charges, and the suspect was not located at the scene. Charges were later submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office for Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Property Damage in the 2nd Degree, and Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree.
Sedalia Police went to the Pettis County Jail Thursday morning to assist with a breath test for a DUI investigation. A breath sample was obtained using the intox DMT and test results were provided to the Deputy conducting the investigation.
On the morning of April 23rd, the Sedalia Police Department received a pair of 911 calls about a single vehicle collision at South Ohio and West 7th Street. A car collided with a large dumpster that was on the west side of South Ohio Avenue. Investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated and he was arrested. The vehicle, a 2014 Chevrolet passenger car, sustained significant front end damage. No one was injured. Peyton T. Buchanan, 23, of Sedalia, was ultimately transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold. Charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender) and Filing a False Report were subsequently filed by the Pettis County Prosecutor.
Thursday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive in regard to a theft. Corey T. Knox and Kimberly A. Ketcher reported someone had broken into a storage unit in the back of the property and stole several items. The items had an aggregate value of approximately $4,350. The victims stated they would like to press charges.
Wednesday afternoon, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Elite Dry Cleaners and Laundromat, 3232 West 16th Street, in regard to a theft which had occurred on Sunday May 2nd. The store's video showed the suspect taking a laundry cart, which has an approximate value of $350. Officers made contact with the suspect, who admitted to taking the cart. No arrest was made at the time due to the subject's location being outside city limits. Charges are being requested for Stealing.
Sedalia Police took a report of a theft from a vehicle Thursday afternoon in the 1700 block of Heck Avenue. Joelle May Bilderback stated that their vehicle had been broken into on Monday. There are no suspects at this time.
Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Harrison for a domestic disturbance. On arrival, Police made contact with the victim, who stated she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. The victim had injuries to her face and arm. A primary physical aggressor was determined and arrested. Kevin A. Clark, 41, of Hughesville, was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold pending state charges of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree.
Officers responded to the Yeager's Cycle, 3001 South Limit for a report of found property Thursday afternoon. Officers located the property and seized it for safe keeping until the owner of the property could be found.
Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 1000 block of South Lamine for a report of property damage. Grable D. Brandy reported that the rear window of their vehicle had been damaged. The approximate value of the damage is $150. At the time of the report, there are no suspects.
On the afternoon of May 2nd, Sedalia Police responded to the 2800 block of East Broadway for a subject check. On arrival, Officers met with the subject in question near her vehicle. A computer check through Dispatch revealed she was a suspended driver. Lisa D. Ramos, 55, of Columbia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released. State charges of Driving While Suspended are being requested.
Thursday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of East 12th for a report of burglary. When Police arrived, they spoke with Corey S. Klein. Klein stated that sometime earlier that morning, someone entered his residence and stole $2,889 worth of items. Photos were taken of the scene and attached to the report. There are no suspects at this time.
On the afternoon of May 4th, John W. McCammon reported damage to his vehicle that was parked in the 1200 block of East 3rd Street. McCammon valued the damage at $280. At the time of the report, there was no suspect information.
