Monday evening, Officers attempted a traffic stop near the intersection of West 18th Street and South Grand Avenue for a license violation. The vehicle failed to yield, leading to a short vehicle pursuit before the driver of the vehicle bailed on foot. The driver was caught a short distance later after a foot pursuit. While attempting to arrest the driver, he resisted arrest and bit the officer on the arm, causing an injury. After the driver was taken into custody, he was identified and found to have several active warrants. Jon Alex Zaremba, 29, of Hughesville, was arrested on charges of Assault in the 3rd Degree, Possession of a Dangerous Drug, felony Resisting Arrest, Failure to Appear on original charges of Operating a Vehicle without Maintaining Financial Responsibility, and three active warrants for Unlawful Possession of an Illegal Weapon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle.


 

Officers conducted a subject check at the corner of West 4th Street and South Harrison Avenue Monday afternoon. The subject had active warrants from the FBI in Indianapolis and was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked. Samuel Perez Jr., 27, of Sedalia, was arrested on the two warrants and for a charge of being a Fugitive from Justice on original charges of Promotion of Human Trafficking.


 

Monday morning, Sedalia Police responded to the parking lot of the Wal Mart store in the 3200 block of West Broadway in regards to a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles. One vehicle left the scene before Police arrival. A crash report was made to document the incident.


 

Officers were advised a homeless person was sleeping on a mattress near the dumpster at the Best Storage in the 100 block of West Pacific Street Monday morning. Police made contact with the individual and discovered she had a Pettis County warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Trespassing. Judith L. Denney, 54, homeless, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Denney was given a court date and bond was set at $250.00 cash.
