This article is compiled from the Sedalia Police Department crime reports.

Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Sedalia Police Department in reference to a missing person’s report. Officers spoke with Beverly Sauerbrei, who stated the person went missing from the 1400 block of West 3rd Street. Officers gathered further information. A report was generated in reference to the incident.


 

On the evening of September 24th, Officers conducted a traffic stop at the main gate of the Missouri State Fairgrounds. The vehicle was speeding, traveling at 48 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. The driver was discovered to have a suspended license. Barry Carle Rivera, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of Speeding, Driving While Suspended, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Rivera was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.


 

Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a burglary. Sherry Woodman reported that the burglary occurred in the 3200 block of West 10th Street. A report was generated about the incident.


 

On the afternoon of September 26th, a call came from a large retail store, located at 3201 West Broadway Boulevard. Asset protection reported they had a shoplifter detained in their office. Upon arrival, Officers gathered information for a report. Alec Edward Smith, 36, of Warsaw, was arrested on a charge of Shoplifting. Smith was released on scene with a city summons.


 

Monday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to a gas station located at 1722 West Broadway Boulevard to take a report of theft. Christina Sherman gave information regarding two separate thefts. Two case reports were generated in reference to the thefts.

On the afternoon of September 27th, an employee with a local bank came into the lobby of the Police Department. They reported a fraud that had occurred in the 3000 block of West Broadway Boulevard.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of West Saline Street and North Veteran’s Memorial Drive on Monday night. The driver was found to have no valid license. Hannah Sue Perry, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested for a charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License. Perry was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.


 

Saturday night, Officers were dispatched to the area of West 10th Street and South State Fair Boulevard to assist with a traffic stop. The vehicle had been stopped for an equipment violation and the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle as it was traveling down the roadway. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Uzziah Darnel Lanigan, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs). Lanigan was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center, and then to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.


 

On the afternoon of September 20th, Officers were dispatched to a gas station located at 808 East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. The manager on duty showed Officers a video of an older male concealing a beef jerky stick in his coat before paying for another beef jerky stick. The male was later identified. Richard Blaine Waters, 63, of Sedalia, was issued a city summons for Shoplifting.
