
Sedalia Police Reports for October 9, 2024

On the morning of October 7th, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East 3rd Street in reference to a report of property damage. There was no information in the report about the cost of the damages.
Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard in refence to a found property report. Property had been left inside the grocery store.

On the morning of September 13th, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of South Barrett Avenue on a vehicle after observing its registration was expired. The driver was found to have a Pettis County Warrant for his arrest. The warrant was issued in August of 2024 after an incident in June of 2024. At that time, Officers conducted a traffic stop on South Park Avenue near West 3rd Street. The vehicle was stopped after making an improper right tum from Carr onto Broadway Street. The driver and passenger showed signs of excessive nervousness in comparison to the innocent motoring public. The driver granted consent to search the vehicle. In addition, K9 Tina was deployed, and she alerted to the odor of a controlled substance. During the search, Officers located and seized a zippered pouch with drug paraphernalia in the form of small baggies for packaging narcotics for sale, a digital scale, and numerous used syringes. Officers also located and seized a baggy with approximately 1.4 grams of a white crystal substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine. In addition, Officers located and seized a loaded hypodermic syringe with approximately 10-20 units of a clear liquid, suspected methamphetamine. During further search, Officers located a small pair of men's cargo shorts which appeared to be too small for the female driver. A pocket of the shorts contained a used hypodermic syringe with remnants of a liquid substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine. During a mirandized interview with Connell at the scene, the passenger admitted to being a prior methamphetamine user, and also admitted to using with a needle. Curtis Tolbert Connell Jr., 50, Homeless, was arrested for his warrant on charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and a new charge of Driving While Revoked. Bond was initially set at $10,000 cash or surety on the drug charge. However, after the warrant was served on September 17th, Connell was released of his own recognizance. Connell's OR bond was revoked on September 26th, after he was arrested again on charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Connell's case has been continued to October 22nd, 2024.
On the morning of September 25th, Officers conducted a traffic stop n ear the intersection of East 9th Street and South Thompson Avenue after observing a wanted person driving. Dispatch confirmed their four Failure to Appear warrants. Three were on original charges of Miscellaneous Animal Violations (No Current Rabies Vaccination, License Required, and Dogs Running at Large). The other FTA warrant was on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender). Luis Alberto Sotelo, 28, of Sedalia, was arrested for his four warrants and a new charge of Driving While Revoked. Total bond was set at $5,000 surety and $180 cash.
