Early Wednesday morning, Officers made contact with a subject that had a warrant in the 1800 block of South Sneed Avenue. The warrant was a Failure to Appear that was issued from a citation in May of 2024 for Failure to Wear a Seat Belt. Hannah Cassels Meyer, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested for her FTA warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Bond was set at $100 cash only.


 

Sedalia Police responded to Katy Park, 2200 South Grand Avenue, for a report of a subject recklessly driving through the park. The incident was reported just after 6:00 p.m. on September 10th. The vehicle fled the area before Officers arrived. A report was collected.


 

On the morning of September 10th, Officers responded to the area of South State Fair Boulevard and West 4th Street regarding a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with all parties. It was determined one driver was impaired at the time of the crash. Josie Rylin Gibbs, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs, Prior Offender), Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Intentionally Inhaling Solvent Fumes/Inducing Another to Smell the Fumes of a Solvent. Gibbs was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where she was booked and released, pending charges*.

Tuesday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and West Main Street because the vehicle had a defective driver’s side headlight. After a computer check with Dispatch, it was determined the driver had an active Pettis County Failure to Appear warrant on an original charge of Peace Disturbance. Amanda Lynn Hendzel, 30, of Warrensburg, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County jail. Hendzel was booked in pending a $251.50 cash only bond.


 

Sedalia Police took a found property report from Greg Brooks on the evening of September 10th. Brooks had found a debit card at a soup kitchen in the 400 block of West Pettis Street. The card owner could not be contacted, so the card was placed into evidence for safe keeping.


 

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Lewis Circle to investigate a report of a hit and run accident. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with Maylyn Pozenel. Information was gathered from Pozenel, the damage was documented, and a report was completed.


 

Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of East 3rd Street for a report of theft no longer in progress on Tuesday morning. Officers arrived on scene, gathered information from Curtis Holman, and a report was completed.


 

*Gibbs faces very similar charges in Casenet 24HE-CR00266-01, filed by the Henry County Circuit Court on August 16, 2024. In that incident she is charged with Intentionally Inhaling Solvent Fumes/Inducing Another to Smell the Fumes of a Solvent, Inducing Symptoms of Intoxication by Using a Solvent, Operating a Motor Vehicle in a Careless or Imprudent Manner Causing an Accident, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and felony Driving While Intoxicated (Persistent Offender). Gibbs failed to appear in court on September 5th, and now has a warrant for her arrest. Bond for Gibbs is set at $10,000 cash or surety.
