Sedalia Police Reports For September 15, 2021

Tuesday evening, Officers were dispatched to the Bothwell Regional Health Center in response to an animal bite. A juvenile male was bitten by his grandmother's dog while he was feeding it in the 1200 block of Maple Lane. The juvenile sustained minor injury to his fingers on each hand. The juvenile was treated and released by hospital staff. Animal Control will be notified of the incident.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the BRHC ER for a domestic assault report Tuesday evening. When Officers arrived, they made contact with the caller, who stated she was assaulted by her brother. After speaking with the caller's brother, no primary aggressor could be determined. The incident was documented and a report completed with a 12 hour log.

Early Tuesday morning, an Officer initiated a traffic stop at the Auto Zone store, 2601 West Broadway Boulevard. The vehicle was stopped for not having an operable license plate light. The driver provided his information, and Dispatch relayed that the driver's status was revoked. Taman H. Harris 42, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.

Officers took a report at the Police Department in regards to a stolen cell phone Tuesday evening. Raymond T. Gomez stated that someone had stolen his phone on September 12th when he was in the 1400 block of South Ohio Avenue.

On the night of September 4th, Officers were dispatched to the Casey's store, 1909 West Main Street, in reference to an individual who ran over two rebar poles in the parking lot while he was pulling in to get fuel. Jorge Alvarado, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Persistent Offender) and Driving While Revoked. Alvarado was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24 hour hold while official charges are requested.

Monday night, Officers responded to the 1200 block of West 11th Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. The parties involved provided conflicting stories of assault, a primary aggressor could not be determined, and neither party had visible injury. A 12 hour log was started to document the incident. No charges are being sought at this time.

Sedalia Police observed an SUV fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign Tuesday night. When Officers got behind the vehicle, they observed that the vehicle did not have tail lights. After conducting a traffic stop and identifying the occupants, Officers ran their information through Dispatch. The passenger of the vehicle had two active warrants for his arrest. One warrant out of Vernon County was for Property Damage with a $2,500 cash only bond. The other warrant was out of Probation and Parole district 6 with no bond. Garrett M. Ecker, 37, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he is being held on the warrants.

Monday night, Officers responded to the Break Time store, 808 East Broadway Boulevard for a report of theft. The caller reported that a subject entered the store and drank an energy drink. When confronted by an employee, the suspect fled without making any attempt to pay for the item. The drink was valued at $2.69. The suspect was later located and arrested. Caleb P. Bartlett, 25, Homeless, was later released on a summons for Stealing with a court date.

Tuesday afternoon, Officers responded to the Break Time store, 318 West Broadway Boulevard for a subject check. On arrival, Officers met with the subject. It was confirmed through Dispatch that a no trespass order had previously been served to him. The subject was also found to be within 300 feet of a subject's place of employment that had an active order of protection against him. Mario A. Madrid, 38, Homeless, was arrested for Trespassing in the 1st Degree and Violation of a Full Order of Protection. Madrid was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold.

Sedalia Police responded to a verbal disturbance in the 1200 block of South Carr Avenue Tuesday afternoon. Upon arriving, contact was made with several individuals. The suspect's information was ran through Dispatch and found that she had two warrants for her arrest. Upon confirmation of the warrants, Ambar Dawn Portillo Ortega, 29, Homeless, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. For the Pettis County warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, she was given a court date and bond was set at $7500 cash or surety. For the Johnson County warrant, she was not supplied a court date and bond was set at $250 cash only.

Tuesday afternoon, Officers responded to the 800 block of Brentwood Avenue in reference to found property. Items were found in the yard of a residence that did not belong to the owner. The items were taken to the Sedalia Police Department and placed into evidence.

Sedalia Police went to the 1300 block of Brianna Boulevard Tuesday afternoon to speak with Savannah M. Romero, who lost her wallet at the Dollar General store, 713 East Broadway. When Officers arrived, they made contact with Romero, who stated she dropped her wallet while getting back into her car and drove away. When she went back to find it, it was gone. The wallet is described as a gray KC wallet with her driver's license, US Bank card that has been deactivated, and her insurance card inside it. Estimated value was $20. There are no suspects at this time.

Tuesday afternoon, Sedalia Police took a report of an attempted theft of money from Starline Industries, 1300 West Henry Street. The complainant stated that the suspect attempted to pass a forged check, from the business, in Springfield Missouri. Since the actual crime took place in Springfield, an assist agency report was completed.

The Sedalia Police responded to the 200 block of South Thompson Road for a report of a subject that had an outstanding warrant Tuesday morning. Upon arriving, contact was made with the suspect. A computer query of his pedigree information revealed he had an outstanding warrant from Probation and Parole. Upon confirmation, DeMario M. Claxton, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where no bond was issued for the warrant.

Tuesday afternoon, Officers responded to the Katy Motors North, 4211 South Limit Avenue, in reference to a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with Brian R. Lahmeyer, who stated that a black, regular cab, long bed 1999 F-250 was stolen from the lot on September 12th.

Tuesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the LifePointe Church, 2921 West Broadway, in reference to found property. Brenda K. Brandt reported that a black Schwinn 10 speed bike had been abandoned behind the building. Officers took custody of the bike and it was placed in the bike shed. The owner is unknown at this time.

Tuesday morning, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 500 block of North Park Avenue in reference to a theft. Officers made contact with William F. Dale, who reported that a license plate was missing from a Center for Human Services bus. Dale also reported that several boards to the wooden privacy fence on the east side of the building had been damaged.

Monday afternoon, Officers responded to the 3300 block of South Stewart Avenue in reference to a violation of an order of protection. A subject got into an argument with a family member of the victim, who had an active order of protection against them. The suspect was within the protected zone of the order of protection. The suspect was later located in the 500 block of Wilkerson. Cruz Escobar, 23, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail for the violation of the protection order, and for an active Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway While Suspended. Escobar was placed on a 24 hour hold, and bond for the warrant was set at $100 cash only.
