Officers responded to the Bothwell Regional Health Center to collect information about an animal bite report. Jack B. Rousch reported being bitten by a stray cat near the intersection of South Grand Avenue and West Main Street. The animal carried he had placed it in fell and opened, spooking the cat.


Saturday night, Officers were dispatched to a local motel at 1217 South Limit Avenue for a report of a subject trespassing. Upon arrival, Officers located a highly intoxicated male, who was then taken into protective custody. Jared Ward Sanders, 43, Homeless, was placed under arrest. Sanders was placed on a 12 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail to sober up. Sunday night, Officers were sent back to the same motel for another report of trespassing. When Officers arrived on scene, contact was made with the victim, who stated that Sanders was inside of her hotel room. Sanders, who the report notes was again intoxicated, was asked to leave several times, and refused. Sanders was arrested on charges of Trespassing in the 1st Degree, Harassment with the Intent to Frighten or Disturb Another Person, Peace Disturbance (2nd or 3rd Offense) and Making a Terroristic Threat in the 3rd Degree*.


 

Sunday evening, Officers responded to Scott Joplin Court for a report of a potential subject in cardiac arrest. Officers arrived on scene and determined the subject was already deceased. The Pettis County Coroner’s Office was contacted, and the deceased subject was released to them.


 

Officers responded to the 1200 block of West 11th Street for a report of a disturbance. When Officers arrived, contact was made with the parties involved, and no primary aggressor could be determined. A 12-hour report was taken.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Station in reference to found property on the afternoon of September 14th. Cheryl Renee Ellison turned over the property she found in the area of West 24th Street and South Moniteau Avenue. The property was placed into safekeeping until the owner can be identified.


 

Friday evening, Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Grand Avenue for a report of a hit and run crash. When Officers arrived on scene they spoke with Jorden Wehmeyer, and information was collected for a report.


 

Saturday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of South Osage Avenue and West 14th Street. The driver of the vehicle was arrested. Hugo Jose Us Lux, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for No Proof of Insurance and No Operator’s License**. Us Lux was transported to the Police Department to be processed and released.

On the afternoon of September 15th, Officers located a female outside of 801 East 15th Street. The female had a warrant for her arrest***. Jessica Nichole Kennedy, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested for her warrant. Bond was set at $50,000.


 

Saturday night, Officers were informed by Dispatch that a victim would like a call from an Officer regarding a theft. Bill Barton stated his wallet had been stolen in the 2000 block of South Limit Avenue. Information was gathered from the victim and the business where the wallet was taken, and a report was generated.


 

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of South Grand Avenue for a report of a protective order violation. Officers arrived on scene, gathered information, and a report was completed.


 

On the night of September 13th, Officers arrived to the 1100 block of East 15th Street for a report of several subjects fighting and causing a disturbance. Officers arrived on scene and were quickly able to determine the subjects causing the disturbance. The subjects were detained for Officer safety. However, after one of the subjects was released, he continued to cause a disturbance and several other crimes out of the view of Officers. Arthur Edwards Doyle, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Kidnapping in the 3rd Degree, Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree, Tampering With a Victim (Witness to Testify Falsely) and Peace Disturbance (1st Offense). Doyle was transported to the Pettis County Jail.


Sedalia Police were dispatched to a store at 3500 West 16th Street in reference to possible property damage early Saturday morning. Information was gathered, evidence of the damage was found, and a report was generated.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to a store at 1909 West Main Street in reference to possible burglary early Saturday morning. Information was gathered, evidence of property damage was found, and a report was generated.


 

Officers responded to 130 South Limit Avenue in regards to property damage Friday evening. Contact was made with David George Curry, and information was collected for a report.


 

Saturday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was not displaying the front registration plate. The stop was conducted on West Broadway boulevard near South Kentucky Avenue. A computer check of the driver showed she had a no bond FTA warrant from Pike County, Illinois. The warrant carried charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Uninsured, Seat Belt Required, and Headlights Required****. Jennie Lee Schwermer, 41, of Sedalia, was arrested for her no bond FTA warrant and a charge of Fugitive from Justice.


 

Friday night, Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North Quincy Avenue in reference to a suicidal subject. The subject was transferred to the Pettis County Ambulance District to University Hospital in Columbia by ambulance.


 

Friday evening, Officers were dispatched to the area of South Park Avenue and Clinton Road in reference to a report of indecent exposure that occurred at 716 West 16th Street. Ervin Eugene Spry, 82, Homeless, was issued a summons for Indecent Exposure.


 

Friday night, Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of South Sneed Avenue in reference to a noise complaint. Information was gathered from Jonathan Prewitt, Kori Prewitt, Charles Lane, and Clara Lane. Trespass warning were given to everyone that was involved, and a report was completed.


 

Sedalia Police took a report of Violation of a Court Order from Troy Harms on the evening of September 10th. Harms stated the violation took place at 417 West Pettis Street.


 

*In Missouri, a third-degree terrorist threat is a class A misdemeanor. A person commits the offense of making a terrorist threat in the third degree if he or she, with criminal negligence with regard to the risk of causing the evacuation, quarantine or closure of any portion of a building, inhabitable structure, place of assembly or facility of transportation by knowingly:
• Causing a false belief or fear that a dangerous incident or condition has occurred
• Communicating an express or implied threat to cause an incident or condition involving danger to life
• Communicating a knowingly false report of an incident or condition involving danger to life

** Author’s note: Report 2024-99922666 notes in the physical condition section of the report that the Officer considered Us Lux to be “intoxicated”. At news time, Us Lux has not been charged with Driving While Intoxicated, nor has a charge been entered into Casenet for this incident.
