Sedalia Police Reports for September 9, 2024

Saturday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop near the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Moniteau Avenue on a vehicle with expired registration plates. The suspect was arrested, but refused to provide a blood sample. A search warrant was obtained, and a blood draw was conducted. Albert Eugene Nash, 28, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs).
Sunday evening, Officers responded to a grocery store at 701 East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. Stewart Lashaun Workcuff stated his vehicle keys were stolen out of his vehicle while he was in the store shopping. At this time, the investigation is ongoing. A Report was made.
Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of South Missouri Avenue and Wilkerson Street in reference to a vehicle that struck a parked car. When Officers arrived, they found a gold Chrysler Pacifica had struck several vehicles parked on the east side of South Missouri Avenue. A witness said a driver, a female in her twenties, ran to the south. The registered owner of the vehicle matched the description given, and her wallet was found in the vehicle with her ID inside. Officers checked the area and found the suspect on WT Morris near West Benton Street. The suspect’s eyes were blood shot and glassy, and she had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from her breath. She was also covered in “stick tights,” as if she had been hiding in the weeds. She was also not wearing shoes. Officers confirmed there were shoes found in the vehicle. The suspect denied being in a crash. She refused to provide a breath sample on a PBT and performed poorly on SFST’s. A search warrant was obtained, and a blood draw was conducted. Sarah Elizabeth Gerloff, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender), and Leaving the Scene of an Accident*. Gerloff was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.
On September 6th and 7th, Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of South Stewart Avenue in reference to mental health issues. The subject was located and transported to the BRHC at their request.
In the early morning hours of September 7th, Officers were dispatched to the area of West 32nd Street and Green Ridge Road. They were called to assist a Pettis County Sheriff’s Deputy with a traffic stop. The black Ford F-150 had been driving without tail lights on. As the vehicle was driving, the headlights and the turn signals would turn on and off, as if someone were trying to turn the lights on. After contact with the driver and a series of Standard Field Sobriety Tests, Officers determined the driver was intoxicated. The suspect was then arrested, and became agitated and combative. She had to be placed into the patrol car. She was then transported to the SPD, where she refused to provide a breath sample. The suspect was placed into a holding cell. She urinated on the floor of the holding cell while waiting for the search warrant to return. Carol R. Gann, 56, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked and felony Driving While Intoxicated (Aggravated Offender, Class D**). Gann was placed on a 24-hour hold, pending a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
Saturday afternoon, Officers conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South Lamine Street. The driver was arrested for a Pettis County warrant. The warrant was issued in August of 2024. According to the probable cause statement, Officers were dispatched a gas station at 4575 South Limit Avenue to investigate a disturbance on the morning of August 24th. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the caller, an employee. She stated she had closed down the men’s bathroom so she could clean it. A customer had trashed it. While she was cleaning the restroom, another team member came to her and told her a male was in the women’s restroom. She went over to the women’s bathroom, opened the door, and spoke to the man. She stated he said “B***h, go away”, and she told him to finish and exit the restroom. At this point, he stated “B***h, I identify as a f***ing lady, my right, f*** off”. She again told him to finish. He came out of the bathroom and told the employee, “F*** you b***h, this isn’t your store”. She told him he needed to leave, and he raised his hand in a manner that made her think he was going to hit her. He then walked to the front of the store, telling her he “Can identify as a woman, it’s my right c**t, you $10 crack w***e”, while grabbing his genitals. She stated the male got to the door and acted as if he was going to hit her again. Another customer told him that wouldn’t be wise. The employee did say she told the male he was not allowed back at the store. The store received a phone call a short time later from a male suspect who was laughing, stating “B***h, get back in there and clean that men’s room”. The subject continued saying, “Better yet, c***, wait ‘til you get out of work”, and hung up on her. The suspect called back yet again about an hour later, this time blocking his number. He stated “B***h, I will get you” and then hung up. The clerk stated she was sure it was the same person, as she couldn’t mistake the sound of his laugh. After reviewing video footage of the incident, Officers recognized the suspect and identified him as Chad Eugene McDaniel. A warrant on charges of felony Harassment in the 1st Degree and misdemeanor Assault in the 4th Degree was issued three days later. McDaniel, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested for his warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail, to be booked in with no bond.
Sedalia Police took a report of past theft from a home improvement store in the 4400 block of Wisconsin Avenue on the morning of September 6th. Upon arrival, Officers gathered information for a report. The suspect has not been located at this time.
Officers took a call Saturday morning from a pet supply business at 4311 Wisconsin Avenue regarding a past theft. The reporting party requested a call from law enforcement officers. Information was gathered from the reporting party, William Gerlt. The suspect has not been located at this time.
On the afternoon of September 7th, Officers were dispatched to the area of West 20th Street and South Ohio Avenue. The reporting party stated two subjects were walking in the middle of the roadway, apparently drunk. The caller provided a detailed description, pointing out the subjects were causing an inconvenience by obstructing traffic. Officers made contact with two drunken subjects walking in the roadway. According to the probable cause report, one subject made it obvious he did not believe the Officer had reason to speak to him. The Officer continued to say the suspect acted as if the Officer had no authority as a female Officer. After a verbal command, the suspect said, “You can back off me, let me talk to your boss, then.” He began to resist attempts to handcuff him, and another Officer helped complete the hand cuffing, while the suspect still attempted to pull away and “banter.” Bryan L. Rosario, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Pedestrian Walking Along the Roadway, Obedience to a Police Official, Peace Disturbance, and Felony Resisting Arrest***. Rosario was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail, pending a cash or surety bond of $2500.
On the evening of September 3rd, Officers were dispatched a car wash at 300 East 16th Street in reference to a property damage report. The reporting party stated that on September 1st, a male subject had pulled an exterior outlet from the brick wall, and left it hanging.
Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of East 9th Street in reference to a stolen bicycle.
Sunday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a found property report. A set of keys were found near the intersection of West 6th Street and South Ohio Avenue. The Officer attempted to locate the vehicle the keys belonged with, but were unable to do so. The keys were put into evidence for safe keeping.
Sunday morning, Officers responded to the 1700 block of East 7th Street for a report of a dog bite. Officers made contact with the victim, who had puncture wounds and a laceration caused by a dog escaping from a residence and biting them. The victim was transported to the hospital for evaluation, and the dogs were quarantined. Animal Control was also notified.
On the afternoon of September 3rd, Officers responded to the lobby of the Police Department to take a report of Fraud. The reporting party stated they had applied for a residence in Sedalia in 2023, but had never moved in. Now, they have a bill from Evergy from another residence in the 1100 block of South Harding, owned by the same property management company, that they have also never lived in.
*Gerloff currently is also in violation of probation in case 21PT-CR00623-01 on a charge of felony Property Damage in the 1st Degree. She has been previously convicted of both DWI (21PT-CR00278) and Leaving the Scene of an Accident (21PT-CR00544).
**The probable cause report notes Gann has three prior convictions for DWI, and her license is currently revoked. In Missouri, an aggravated DWI is a DWI charge that includes aggravating circumstances, such as having three or more prior DWI convictions or at least two intoxication-related traffic offenses. Aggravated DWI is a Class D felony, which can result in up to seven years in prison. Other penalties include longer driver's license suspensions and higher fines.
***24PT-CR01391 states the charges against Rosario were finalized as Peace Disturbance (1st Offense) and Resisting Arrest.
