The Board of Trustees of State Fair Community College will meet in a special executive closed meeting, with closed record and closed vote, on Tuesday, March 8, at 5 p.m., in the Hopkins Board Room for the purpose of considering hiring, firing, disciplining, or promotion of personnel, it was noted in a press release on Friday afternoon.

This is a closed session meeting and will not be open to the public, it was noted.

The six elected Trustees normally meet on the fourth Thursday of the month.

The Board, with the assistance of a 13-member Presidential Search Committee, is in the process of choosing a new president for SFCC and is expected to make an announcement soon.

The SFCC Board also met in Executive Session March 2 and 3.

Current President Dr. Joanna Anderson announced her retirement in August. Her last day is June 30.

Five finalists were named and each gave public presentations in late January,  including Dr. Brent Bates, Dr. Michelle Schutt, Dr. David Hinds, Dr. Randy Smith and Dr. David Braverman.

There were a total of 12 candidates who applied for the position.
