Shaw Wins Scholarship from Sedalia School District Foundation

The Sedalia 200 School Board recently honored Smith-Cotton High School senior Alyson Shaw, as the district’s John T. Belcher Scholarship winner.

Shaw was honored at the school board meeting on May 8. As the local winner, Shaw received a $500 award from the Sedalia School District Foundation. The Belcher scholarship program provides a $1,000 annual scholarship to a student in each of the Missouri School Boards Association's 17 regions.

According to the MSBA website, "Applicants are judged on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities and the quality of an essay. A statewide winner is selected from this group of regional winners and awarded an additional $1,500."
