The Sacred Heart Gremlins traveled to Southern Boone (21-1) to play the #1 ranked team in Class 2 on Thursday night and lost, 3-1.

The Eagles had amassed a 20-1 record to that point in the season and proved to be as quality as their record indicated. The Gremlins held strong, and behind an incredible 18-save effort from goalkeeper Dallin Chappell, the Gremlins played the Eagles to a very competitive 3-1 game.

After a one goal deficit at halftime, the Gremlins gave up two early goals in the second half. Facing a 3-0 deficit, the Gremlins adjusted to the speed of play and quickly scored a goal of their own. Lucas Martin served a cross onto the waiting foot of Tony Farr. Farr skillfully one touched the ball to the far post for the goal.

At this point, the Gremlins found renewed motivation and pressed hard for the remaining 20 minutes. A last-minute save by an Eagle's defender off the goal line kept the deficit from being even closer.

Sacred Heart (14-8) completes their home season on Tuesday, Oct. 29 against Fatima (12-8) at 5 p.m. at home.
