The former coach of a St. Louis region soccer club is charged with statutory rape after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a player.

Thirty-one-year-old Hugh Patrick McVey was charged Thursday after a joint investigation in St. Charles and St. Louis counties. He faces a total of seven statutory rape and statutory sodomy counts in the two counties.

McVey is the former coach of Lou Fusz Soccer. The player obtained an order of protection last month that bans McVey from contacting her. Prosecutors say McVey and the player had sex in St. Charles County and Kirkwood between March 1 and June 30.
