Sedalia Man Arrested for Felony Statutory Sodomy
On Thursday evening, Officers conducted a warrant check in the 900 block of East 6th Street.
Officers made contact with a subject and checked his information with Joint Communications. He was found to have an active Pettis County Warrant.
That warrant was issued in March of 2024 after an investigation that began in January of the same year. A report was made to the SPD in reference to allegations of sexual abuse between the suspect and a minor child.
The child was interviewed at Child Safe in reference to allegations of sexual abuse. The child did not make an actual disclosure, but made it clear she was “in love” with the suspect.
The suspect admitted to an inappropriate relationship with the girl, admitting to kissing and fondling her over her clothes, as well as digital penetration.
The suspect had made several comments that he knew she was not an adult, and he stated he told her they should wait until she turns 18. The incidents took place in the 1700 block of South Lamine Avenue between November 2023 and January 2024.
William M. Chapman, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested for his warrant on a charge of felony Statutory Sodomy in the 2nd Degree. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety, with conditions that Chapman is not have any contact with the victim.
