Early Tuesday morning at 12:41 a.m., Sedalia Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of North Prospect.

Officers arrived to find a female victim lying in the front yard of a residence suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported from the scene and air-lifted to a regional hospital for medical care.

Investigators were called to the scene for processing and investigation, according to Sedalia Police Chief David Woolery.

Pettis County Deputies assisted with the initial investigation as well.

Members of the SPD's Criminal Investigations Bureau continue to investigate the incident.
