Tuesday night’s City Council meeting led off with a badge pinning for Sedalia’s newest firefighter, Antonio Erwin.

The tax increase proposal has a deadline of Tuesday, Jan. 28 to get it on the April ballot.

“We were not up to speed and not ready to give an explanation of how the tax abatement program works, “ Lauber said.

Council awarded a $1,356,577.66 bid to S&A Equipment and Builders, LLC, for rehabilitation of approximately 100 blocks of sidewalks located in the north center portion of Sedalia.

A retaining wall in the 100 block of West Main was once again damaged by an unknown vehicle.

Dawn Williams, Pettis County Health Center Community Mental Health Coordinator, requested $50,000 from the City of Sedalia for outdoor Narcan vending machines.

"When you look at the total net margin we still have a loss of $1.4 million compared to $6.1 million from a year ago," Davis said.

Fire Chief Matt Irwin applied for the grant, but it was ultimately declined.

Monday's City Council meeting led off with a service award for Sedalia Firefighter Matt Kowalski for five years of service.
