Three Smith-Cotton Seniors Earn Way to Missouri S&T

A trio of Smith-Cotton High School seniors on Monday signed documents to attend the Missouri University of Science & Technology at Rolla.

Ethan Hisle, Erik Izazaga and Matthew Walker play key roles on Team SCREAM, the Smith-Cotton competitive robotics team.

Project Lead the Way teacher and Team SCREAM Coach Kyle Stoecklein praised the three seniors and their contributions:

Hisle: “Ethan worked on our drive team as the robot operator and main programmer. He worked very well under pressure with programming because most of our autonomous programming at competitions. He is an excellent student and an important member of our team.

Izazaga: “Erik is one of the lead designers of our robot. He has been on the competition pit crew every year since he started and has worked hard to be one of the top senior leaders we have. He always tried to challenge himself with complicated designs and always astonished me with what he was able to achieve."

Walker: “Matthew has been a huge part of our team and was one of our senior leaders who helped us have a successful season. He always did anything that was needed for the team and he did it well."

Walker and Hisle were programmers for Team SCREAM for the past three years, while Izazaga worked on the mechanical team for three years.
