Twins Born On Two Separate Days
If anyone knows a twin, you will know that there is a special bond. It is a blessing. I have dated an identical twin in my life and one thing that I always found fascinating, is that many of them brag about who is the older one. Even if it is only a few minutes. But could you picture a situation where they were born on two different days? Or two different years? Now that is a story to tell. And it happened a few days ago.
Say hello to Alfredo Antonio Trujillo who was delivered first at 11:45 p.m. on New Years Eve, and his sister Aylin Yolanda Trujillo was born exactly at midnight on New Year's Day. They were born at Natividad Medical Center and in Monterey County California. There are about 120,000 twin births in the USA every year, slightly more than 3% of all births. Twins with different birthdays are rare, and the chance of twins being born in different years is 1 in 2 million.
Two different years, two different dates, two different days of the week. Kind of cool. Alfredo and Aylin are joining a family with 3 kids already. The fraternal twins will join 2 girls and a boy.
“It’s crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays,” their mother, Fatima Madrigal, said. “I was surprised and happy that she arrived at midnight.” For the record, Alfredo is not only the older one, but he was a bit heavier, weighing 6lbs and 1 ounce. Aylin, weighed in at 5lbs and 14 ounces.
Congratulations to the Madrigal family. This is a story that is very rare and they will be able to share for a lifetime. Both children and mom are doing well. What an amazing way to begin the New Year.
