On Tuesday, Aug. 27 shortly after 5 p.m., Pettis County deputies initiated a pursuit in the 1100 block of US 65 (Burger King) when a subject known to have multiple active warrants for his arrest was observed operating a vehicle.

The high-speed pursuit continued through Sedalia to 16th and Marshall, where the suspect vehicle, a black Chevy truck with Wisconsin plates, turned around and traveled back into Sedalia on East 16th. The vehicle continued through Sedalia, crossing US 50 and exiting the city limits on North Engineer. The suspect vehicle continued through rural Pettis County, ending up on Route Z traveling into Cooper County. The vehicle eventually crashed on East Beech Lane in Cooper County. South of I-70, where both occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody.

Eric Swigert was arrested and booked into Pettis County Jail on multiple active warrants, including a no-bond Probation and Parole warrant, a Howard County warrant for possession of stolen property ($10,000 cash bond), and a no-bond warrant out of Dade County, Wisconsin for operating a vehicle to elude officers and violation of a domestic abuse order. Charges of fugitive from justice, driving while revoked, resisting arrest, careless & imprudent driving, and assault are also being pursued.

Nicole Williams was arrested on two active Pettis County warrants for failure to appear on an original charge of stealing, with a combined bond amount of $2,650. Williams was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for medical treatment before being transferred to the Pettis County Jail.
