Two Pettis County women were arrested for animal neglect on Sunday evening.

According to a facebook post by Sheriff Brad Anders, “this has been an ongoing issue for the past year, and the Sheriffs Office has attempted to utilize several resources in an attempt to address the issue. However, all attempts have been met with negative results.”

However, on Sunday June 5, at approximately 6 p.m., Pettis County Deputies responded to 1534 Crestview Drive, just east of Sedalia off Highway 50, in reference to an animal complaint.

As Deputies arrived, they located one dog carrying a smaller dog that appeared to be deceased for some time.

As Deputies continued to look at several other dogs on the property, it was apparent the other dogs did not have adequate shelter and food.

The dogs were also walking in stagnant water.

Several of the animals were attached to a chain and were caught on debris throughout the yard.

Pettis County Deputies then arrested 24-year-old Kortney S. Wyrick, and 31-year-old Amber Kreisler, both of Sedalia. for animal neglect.

The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office has reached out to several contacts to assist with removal of the dogs and other animals on the property, Sheriff Anders said.
