Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Sunday evening in Pettis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 2013 Chevrolet, driven by 26-year-old Victor M. Rivera of Windsor, was on Route Y at Highway 127 at 7:12 p.m., when he slowed to make a left turn across traffic. An eastbound 2012 Ford, driven by 49-year-old Rigoberto C. Nunez of Knob Noster failed to stop for a stop sign and struck the Chevy on the front passenger side.

Nunez suffered minor injuries, while Rivera suffered moderate injuries. Nunez was treated at the scene, while Rivera was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center by PCAD. Both drivers were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Chevy had extensive damage, while the Ford was totaled.

Pettis County Deputies assisted the Patrol.

Nunez was later arrested by the Patrol at 8:05 p.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to stop at a posted stop sign. Nunez was taken to the Pettis County Jail., where he was booked and released.
