Warrensburg’s New Garbage Service Starts March 1: What You Need To Know!
This article has been updated to include the latest information on garbage cart delivery from the City of Warrensburg. Scroll down to "Where Are My Garbage Carts?" for the latest updated information.
Constable Sanitation is taking over residential garbage service in Warrensburg effective Saturday, March 1, 2025. Here's some handy information Warrensburg residents should know about their garbage service.
Where Are My New Garbage Carts?
Feb 28 Update: Earlier this week, the City of Warrensburg notified residents via Facebook that new garbage cart delivery from Constable Sanitation would take longer than anticipated. Customers who have a Monday pick-up should have received their new garbage carts. On February 27, Constable Sanitation was working on getting carts to those residents with a Tuesday pickup and is still working on that today.
The City's Facebook page explains that one way to determine whether you should inform Constable Sanitation that you haven't received your new garbage carts is to see if your neighbors have. If most people have them, you may wish to contact Constable Sanitation and let them know you have not received them. If many or nobody on your street has them, Constable Sanitation has not delivered the carts to your area.
At this point, cart delivery is being determined by your garbage pick-up day, so the new carts can be used for pickups starting March 3. Those with pickups later in the week will receive their carts later in the process. Constable Sanitation has posted a webpage to find your garbage day and see if carts have been delivered to your area.
Garbage carts are currently being delivered to residents. Each home will receive two 96-gallon garbage carts, one with a red lid for trash and one with a blue lid for recyclables. All garbage carts should be delivered by Thursday evening, February 27, 2025. If you don't receive yours, contact Constable Sanitation at 816-204-1192 on Friday, February 28.
Republic Services and Heartland Waste garbage carts will be picked up after your last garbage pickup day in February. If you have a cart from another hauler, you'll need to contact them to find out how they handle cart pick-up.
Moving forward, you must use Constable Sanitation's carts because they are designed to work with the sidearm equipment on their trucks.
What Day Is My Street's Garbage Day?
This map shows the day your neighborhood will have trash collection. The Constable Sanitation website provides a list of the boundaries here.
Trash and Recycling Pick-Up Procedure
Constable Sanitation will pick up eight garbage bags per week, of which your garbage cart will hold six bags. All trash should be bagged and sealed before being placed in trash carts. The lid on your cart should be closed, and no bags or items should be on top of the list. Extra bags should not be placed in personal containers.
Acceptable recycling items include plastics #1-5 and #7, metal and aluminum cans, cardboard, and mixed paper. All recyclables should be cleaned, rinsed, and broken down to fit in the bin.
Additionally, the following items can be recycled: newspapers, advertising inserts, office paper, envelopes, catalogs, drink cartons, plastic bottle caps, yogurt and margarine tubs, and clamshell packaging.
The following everyday items CAN NOT be recycled: glass, styrofoam, books, paper plates or cups, paper towels, pizza boxes, six-pack rings, tissue paper, wrapping paper, tissue paper, and bubble wrap.
For a complete list of what can and can't be recycled, see Constable Sanatation's website.
Carts should be placed at the street curb either the night before or by 7:00 AM CST on your garbage pickup day. Carts should be positioned with wheels toward your house and three feet apart from other carts or obstacles.
Bulk Item Pickup
Large item pick-up is on the third day of the month. There is no need to schedule the pick-up with Constable Sanitation. One large item will be picked up per month for no extra charge. Examples of what can be picked up are appliances, furniture, large electronics, a basketball goal, a barbecue grill, and a lawn mower.
If you have more than one large item to pick up monthly, please call the office at 816-204-1192. Extra charges will apply.
The City of Warrensburg and Constable Sanitation have provided detailed information regarding the garbage pick-up switchover. This information can be found on the City of Warrensburg's website, Constable Sanitation's website, and the City of Warrensburg's Facebook page.
