Bruce
You never know what you will get when you tune in to the Bruce in the Morning Show. I will make fun of just about anybody and anything. If it's on your brain, then we can talk about it, so I always invite you to be a part of the show.
The St. Patrick's Day party at Dukes & Boots was my final party appearance for KIX 105.7. There were a lot of people dressed in green and pitchers of green beer flowed. I made sure to have a large helping of the corned beef and cabbage special too.
The pictures from Saturday evening are below. Thanks a lot to Amanda Balke Photography for sharing her photos with us. Don't forget to get registered to win the trip to Seattle from Dukes & Boots to see and meet Kenny Chesney.
In the last week, the Sedalia area has gotten more than two feet of snow. Activities have been cancelled, schools closed and places of employment have shut down. The secondary roads have proven a challenge if they are passable at all. Add to that the fact that many people lost power along the way. That's when it happens. The kids look to their parents and say those two words that elicit the same response as fingernails on a chalkboard. Their tiny voices look up and say "I'm bored."
After the Super Bowl, I always find myself in a bit of a slump. I don't really care for basketball and baseball is still a ways off. So when the Mid-Mo Outlaws are getting ready to play, I get very excited. What better way to start off the 2013 season than with a party?
You walk in to the Matthewson Exhibition Center and see dirt covering the arena floor. It is mounded up in places and the old cars are in place. The kids are all excited because they see what is in each corner of the floor. "Shock Therapy," "Ground Pounder," "God, Guts and Glory," and "Nail It," are waiting to roar to life at the Monster Truck Racing Super Series and deliver a show that includes Chicago style racing, freestyle competition and a monster truck wheelie contest. Plus the Tuff Trux - Pro Stadium Trucks direct from TV will go over the obstacle course and Pro Quad Racers will race motocross.
I was recently out to lunch with a friend and watched her put ketchup on her taco. That prompted me to take a survey about strange food combinations. I was pretty surprised by the results. Here's my pick for the top five.
Valentine's day is generally set aside for people in relationships. It doesn't matter if you've been with your significant other for years or just a couple of weeks, chances are you'll do something romantic on that day. For single people, it is just a day to remind them that they're not in a relationship.
Songs being recorded by multiple artists is not new. "Ol' Red" was recorded by George Jones and Kenny Rogers before Blake Shelton put his spin on it and made it a hit. "I Do (Cherish You)" was a hit for Mark Wills on the country chart and 98 Degrees on the Top 40 charts. Now we have three different versions of "Wagon Wheel" floating around.
I took the kids to see the Harlem Globetrotters at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. I grew up watching Meadowlark Lemon, Curly Neil and Goose on TV. The spirit of the team lives on with new players and the show was fantastic. The trick plays were timed perfectly and they do amazing things with a basketball. The announcer added excitement to the "championship game" by pointing out how close it was. Of course, the Globetrotters were victorious. Here's a few photos from the event.
